History

In 2017, the New government announced the establishment of 24 cannabis distributor locations, but only 22 were established. [3] Of the 24 originally announced, 10 were to be operated by Dominion, a division of Loblaw. [4] All are operated privately but supplied by Cannabis NL.

Cannabis NL was established in 2018, following the introduction of the Cannabis Act, legalizing cannabis use across Canada. [5] Cannabis NL oversees the distribution of cannabis to private stores who then sell it. [6]

Cannabis NL optioned two expiring licenses to Atlantic Cultivation and a competitor, Tweed, was forced to shut down two stores. [7]
