Capital Talk is the flagship political talk show broadcast on Geo News. Hosted by Hamid Mir, [1] Capital Talk looks at the challenges, issues and concerns facing Pakistan on a daily basis. The format includes several guests who participate in a dialogue on a topic related to current affairs. [2] It is broadcast four days a week (Monday to Thursday) on Geo News.
Launched in 2002, it is the oldest current events program in Pakistan. [3] The first guest at the show was Makhdoom Ameen Faheem with whom the first host Hamid Mir discussed the 2002 Pakistan general election. [4] Special transmissions are also broadcast focusing on crises zones, more important ones of which took place during Long March of 2009.
In December 2007, the show was banned by General Pervez Musharraf due to Mir's constant criticism of the Government. The show returned in January 2008 but was hosted by Muhammad Malik instead of Hamid Mir. [5] After the General Election of 2008, Mir returned to Capital Talk.
In October 2012, Capital Talk completed its 10 years of running. This was celebrated by Geo News by running a special episode of the program.
Few of the famous political figures which have been interviewed include General Pervez Musharraf, Asif Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, Jemima Khan, Imran Khan, Chaudhry Shujaat, Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice.
In May 2021, after journalist Asad Ali Toor was attacked by masked men, Hamid Mir supported him and criticized Pakistan's military establishment of censoring the media and persecuting journalists. On May 30, 2021, Mir was banned from Geo News and it was reported that he would no longer host the Capital Talk show. [6] [7] [8] On March 8, 2022, Hamid Mir returned to Capital Talk after the ban was lifted. [9]
Pervez Musharraf was a Pakistani army general and politician who served as the tenth president of Pakistan from 2001 to 2008. He also served as the 10th Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee from 1998 to 2001 and the 7th Chief of Army Staff from 1998 to 2007.

He has been a contributor to the Global Opinions section of The Washington Post since June 2021. He is well-known for his stance against the dominance of the Establishment in Pakistan. Hamid Mir has survived two assassination attempts, has been banned from television three times, and has lost his job twice due to his stand for press freedom and human rights.

Agha Iftikhar Ahmad is a Pakistani research journalist and a political activist. Ahmad started his career in 1980, after his release from jail and joined Jang Media Network and held a senior position in the Network. Ahmad is currently serving as Director of Elections, Investigations, Special Projects, and Research (EISPAR) for the Geo News Network (GNN). Iftikhar Ahmad also hosted interview show Jawab Deyh on Geo News TV channel for over 10 years.

Pakistan–Palestine relations refer to the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Palestine. The Palestinian Authority established an embassy in Islamabad on 31 January 2017. The Lawyers' Movement, also known as the Movement for the Restoration of Judiciary or the Black Coat Protests, was the popular mass protest movement initiated by the lawyers of Pakistan in response to the former president and army chief Pervez Musharraf's actions of 9 March 2007 when he unconstitutionally suspended Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as the chief justice of Pakistan's Supreme Court. Following the suspension of the chief justice, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) declared the judge's removal as an "assault on the independence of judiciary" and were backed by several political parties.
