Kathleen Sebelius is an American politician who served as the 21st United States Secretary of Health and Human Services from 2009 until 2014. As Secretary of Health and Human Services,Sebelius was instrumental in overseeing the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Before becoming secretary,she served as the 44th governor of Kansas from 2003 to 2009,the second woman to hold that office. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Sebelius was the Democratic respondent to the 2008 State of the Union address and is chair-emerita of the Democratic Governors Association. She is CEO of Sebelius Resources LLC.

The 2006 Kansas gubernatorial election took place on November 7,2006. Incumbent Democratic Governor Kathleen Sebelius,who sported high approval ratings ran for re-election to serve a second and final term. Governor Sebelius was unopposed for the Democratic nomination and she faced the Republican nominee,State Senator Jim Barnett,who emerged from a crowded primary. Sebelius soundly defeated Barnett and cruised to re-election,which was quite a considerable feat for a Democrat in staunchly conservative Kansas. This was Sebelius's second time winning a majority and was part of a trend from 1984 to 2010 where 7 of 8 Kansas gubernatorial elections were won with a majority rather than a simple plurality. No candidate received a majority of votes in 2014,2018 or 2022.
Mark Vincent Parkinson is an American businessman and former politician serving as head of the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL). He served as the 47th lieutenant governor of Kansas from 2007 to 2009 and the 45th governor of Kansas from 2009 until 2011. He was also a state legislator.

Derek Larkin Schmidt is an American lawyer and politician who served as the Kansas Attorney General from 2011 to 2023. A Republican,Schmidt was first elected to office serving in the Kansas Senate,where he represented the 15th district from 2001 to 2011,and served as Agriculture Committee chairman and Senate majority leader. Schmidt became the state attorney general in 2011,after he defeated incumbent Democrat Stephen Six.
Kenton Lee "Kent" Glasscock is a former Republican politician from Manhattan,Kansas. Glasscock was born in Warrensburg,Missouri,to Bill and Frances Glasscock. He served as Speaker of the House of the State of Kansas from 2001 to 2003. During his tenure,he served as the co-author of Governor Bill Graves budgets. Glasscock served as State Representative from the 62nd District from 1991–2003,was mayor of Manhattan in 1989 and served as a city commissioner from 1987–1990.
Laura Jeanne Kelly is an American politician serving since 2019 as the 48th governor of Kansas. A member of the Democratic Party,she represented the 18th district in the Kansas Senate from 2005 to 2019. Kelly was elected governor in 2018,defeating Republican nominee Kris Kobach. She was reelected in 2022,narrowly defeating Republican nominee Derek Schmidt.

Kansas Insurance Commissioner Kathleen Sebelius,the Democratic nominee,ran against Kansas State Treasurer Tim Shallenburger,the Republican nominee,with Sebelius defeating Shallenburger to become the second female Governor of Kansas after Joan Finney who served as governor from 1991 to 1995.
Chris Biggs is an American lawyer and politician who was the 30th Secretary of State of Kansas. He was appointed on March 16,2010,by Governor Mark Parkinson to replace Ron Thornburgh who resigned on February 15,2010. On Nov. 2nd,2010,he was defeated for election to a full term by a wide margin.

From 2017 to 2021,she was a member of the Kansas Senate representing the 7th district,which includes Mission Hills,Kansas in Johnson County. Bollier is a member of the Democratic Party,after having left the Republican Party in 2018. Bollier was the Democratic nominee in the 2020 United States Senate election in Kansas,losing in the general election to Republican congressman Roger Marshall.

Michael Capps is an American politician who was born in Wichita,Kansas. A Republican,he was a member of the Kansas House of Representatives for the 85th district from 2018 to 2021.
Larry Steckline is a prominent Kansas broadcasting entrepreneur,and radio and television personality,particularly known for his Kansas agriculture news/feature/commentary programs. His company,Steckline Communications—formerly known as the Mid-Kansas Ag Network—provides various media services,including agricultural news syndicated to radio and television stations throughout Kansas. Steckline has also owned and operated 27 Kansas and Oklahoma radio stations.
The 2022 Kansas gubernatorial election took place on November 8,2022,to elect the governor of Kansas,with primary elections taking place on August 2,2022. Governor Laura Kelly ran for re-election to a second term,facing Republican State Attorney General Derek Schmidt in the general election.
