Carlos McConnie is a Puerto Rican television host and actor. He hosts the show Euromaxx produced by Deutsche Welle, and appeared on Univision's Sábado Gigante . [1] [2]

Early life and education

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, McConnie attended Robinson High School. He earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Masters in Communications degrees. [3]

History

McConnie appeared as a host on MTV Puerto Rico [4] before he was cast for WAPA-TV's show Jangueo TV in 2007. [5] [6] He later became co-host of Univision Puerto Rico's weekly entertainment newscast Flashazo VIP in 2009. [7] In 2011, McConnie became a guest-host on Telefuturas daily show Escándalo TV. [8] He made his acting debut in the TV movie El Corillo in 2012. [9] [10]

McConnie moved to Los Angeles, California in 2013. There he started acting in short films and hosted web-based shows, including Actors E Chat Show [11] and ¡Enterate! con McConnie [3] [12] [13] before he was recruited by Univision Network in Miami, Florida. [3] [14] He was a presenter on the show Mira Quien Baila , and then became a co-host on Nuestra Belleza Latina in 2014, as well as their aftershows, MQB Extra and NBL Extra. [1] He co-hosted Sábado Gigante with Don Francisco, and in 2015 became host of Deutsche Welle's culture magazine Euromaxx for its editions in Spanish and English. [2]

The 54th Annual Miss Puerto Rico Universe pageant was held at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum on October 22, 2008, in Hato Rey section of San Juan, Puerto Rico. A record of 70 contestants competed for the crown, in which the competition was televised live by WAPA-TV. On October 11, 2008, the show entered its final stage when twelve finalists elected by the public remained.

Melissa Marty Caro is a Puerto Rican beauty pageant titleholder and TV Host. Marty placed as a semi-finalist in Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2008, competing as "Miss Caguas." She then became a contestant on the reality show/beauty contest Nuestra Belleza Latina, and after weeks of competition and eliminations, she won the grand prize of over $100,000, a contract with Univision and earned the title of Nuestra Belleza Latina 2008.

Aideliz Hidalgo is a Puerto Rican beauty pageant titleholder who held the title of Miss Puerto Rico International 2010. She was the first black woman to compete in Miss International as Miss Puerto Rico.

Nuestra Belleza Latina 2008 was the second season of Nuestra Belleza Latina, which premiered in February 2008 on Univision. Auditions were once again held in five major U.S. cities and in San Juan, Puerto Rico. During the audition process, 75 young women were given passes to the semifinals in Miami, Florida. The elimination process was quick, with 15 women leaving the first week, 40 in the second week, and finally, on March 28, 2008, eight women were eliminated leaving the 12 finalists who moved into a Miami mansion, where they lived for the rest of the competition.

Yara Liz Lasanta Santiago is a Puerto Rican meteorologist and beauty pageant titleholder who participated and finished top 25 in Miss World 2010.

Viviana Ortiz Pastrana is a Puerto Rican actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2011 on November 4, 2010 and represented Puerto Rico at Miss Universe 2011 where she placed Top 16.

<i>SuperXclusivo</i> Puerto Rican gossip/news show

SuperXclusivo is a Puerto Rican gossip show broadcast on TeleOnce (WLII-DT). The show, originally premiered on WAPA-TV as SuperXclusivo on January 24, 2000. It is hosted by puppet gossiper La Comay — The Gossiper, created, voiced and puppeteered by Kobbo Santarrosa. La Comay is joined by a co-host and sidekick, which has been filled by Héctor Travieso, Roque Gallart and, currently, by Yan Ruiz. La Comay, the character, presents celebrity and political gossip, as well as news and social commentary on local issues. Through its original run, SuperXclusivo maintained the top position in local ratings. The show ended its original run on WAPA-TV on January 9, 2013, after Kobbo Santarrosa resigned from the network amid boycotts against him for homophobic allegations he made on air through the puppeteering of La Comay. On December 19, 2018, it was confirmed that La Comay would be returning to television to Mega TV after years of speculation. The new show, titled after the puppet gossiper, premiered on January 28, 2019 and ended on December 18, 2020, after Santarrosa decided not to renew the show's contract with the network. This resulted the show to move to TeleOnce as of March 1, 2021, with comedian Yan Ruiz as the new co-host and sidekick.

Nuestra Belleza Latina 2014 was the eight season of Nuestra Belleza Latina and the eighth season to be aired on Univision. The season premiere was on Sunday February 16, 2014 at 8pm/7c, the earliest premiere of all eight seasons. The season finale was on Sunday, May 18, 2014.
