Carlotta de Bevilacqua (born 23 June 1957) is an Italian architect, designer and entrepreneur. She is currently President and CEO of Artemide and President of Danese Milano.

Biography

Graduated in 1983 in Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, she is mainly known for her research in contemporary lighting design. [1] [2] [3]

In the early 1990s she started to design lighting projects for the Italian companies Artemide and Danese, developing a new generation of LED products, recognized with several patents [4] and awards. [5]

Her products have been selected for several international exhibitions on contemporary design (Centre Pompidou [6] in Paris, Serpentine Gallery [7] in London, La Triennale di Milano) and have been awarded at some of the most important international design awards (IF Product Design Award, [8] [9] Red Dot Design Award [10] and Wallpaper Design Award [11] ).

Since 2001 she is a Lecturer of Lighting Design at Politecnico di Milano.

She was known for her contributions to the design of important museums such as the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the Contemporary Art Gallery at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the restoration of Palazzo Grassi in Venice, and the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. Aulenti was one of only a few women architects and designers who gained notoriety in their own right during the post-war period in Italy, where Italian designers sought to make meaningful connections to production principles, and influenced culture far beyond Italy.
