Carolina Alonso Alonso (born 17 October 1980) [1] is a Spanish politician. She was elected to the Assembly of Madrid in the 2019 elections and led Podemos there from 2021 to 2023. She quit the party in December 2023.
Born in Gijón, Asturias, Alonso graduated in Pedagogy from the University of Oviedo, [2] and in Political Sciences from the University of the Basque Country. [3]
In November 2016, she was elected to the Citizens' Council of Podemos in the Community of Madrid, as part of the sector backing Ramón Espinar Merino. [4] During tensions in the party between leader Pablo Iglesias and Íñigo Errejón, she backed the former. [5]
Alonso was placed seventh on Unidas Podemos's list for the 2019 Madrilenian regional election, led by Isabel Serra, [6] and seven members were elected. She was again placed seventh in 2021, [7] and ten members were elected.
After the 2021 Assembly of Madrid elections, Iglesias retired from politics after having led Podemos's list, and Serra resigned. Alonso then led the party in the legislature. [8]
Alonso switched to municipal politics for the 2023 Madrid City Council election, running in second on the Podemos-United Left-Green Alliance list led by former athlete Roberto Sotomayor. [9] Podemos lost all of its seats both in the city and region of Madrid. [10] On 11 December 2023, both Alonso and Sotomayor quit Podemos after the party split from the left-wing coalition Sumar. [11]

The election was held simultaneously with regional elections in eleven other autonomous communities and local elections all throughout Spain, as well as the 2019 European Parliament election.

Rita Maestre Fernández is a Spanish political scientist and politician. A member of the Madrid City Council since 2015, she served as Spokesperson of the municipal government board presided by Manuela Carmena from 2015 to 2019.

The 2021 Madrilenian regional election was held on Tuesday, 4 May 2021, to elect the 12th Assembly of the Community of Madrid. All 136 seats in the Assembly were up for election. This marked the first time that a regional premier in Madrid made use of the presidential prerogative to call an early election.

Galicia en Común was a left-wing alliance in Galicia formed by Podemos and United Left (EU) as a successor to the En Marea alliance, which after turning into a party broke up from their three constituent parties in early 2019 as a result of political and leadership differences. All 57 seats in the City Council were up for election. The election was held simultaneously with regional elections in twelve autonomous communities and local elections all throughout Spain.
Mónica García Gómez is a Spanish anesthesiologist and politician, current coordinator and spokesperson of the political party Más Madrid in the Madrilenian Assembly. She was an elected deputy during the X legislature of the Madrilenian Assembly under the Spanish political party Podemos, and is currently a deputy in the XI legislature as part of Más Madrid. Since 2015, García has combined her political work with her job in health care, with a 50% reduction in working hours. She was appointed Minister of Health in the third government of Pedro Sánchez following the 2023 Spanish general elections.

Because regional elections in the Community of Madrid were mandated for the fourth Sunday of May every four years, the 2021 snap election did not alter the term of the four-year legislature starting in 2019. The election was held simultaneously with regional elections in eleven other autonomous communities and local elections all throughout Spain.
The 11th Federal Assembly of United Left was held in Madrid from 4 June to 5 June 2016, to renovate the governing bodies of United Left (IU) and establish the party's main lines of action and strategy for the next leadership term. A primary election to elect the new general coordinator of the party was held from 26 May to 29 May 2016. This was the first leadership election in IU's history in which all the party members were allowed to vote.

Alejandra Jacinto Uranga is a Spanish lawyer and former politician. She worked for Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca defending people from eviction. She was elected to the Assembly of Madrid for Podemos in 2021 and was their lead candidate two years later, in which the party lost all its seats. She then left politics and returned to the legal profession.
