He played college basketball with the Duke Blue Devils and in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the St. Louis Hawks and Golden State Warriors. Mullins served as the head basketball coach at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte from 1985 to 1996.
Phil Jackson Ford Jr. is an American former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High School in 1974, and had an All-American college career with the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Carla Werden Overbeck is an American former soccer player who is currently an assistant coach for the Duke Blue Devils women's soccer team. Captain of the United States national team from 1993 to 2000, she helped lead the team to two FIFA Women's World Cups and an Olympic gold medal. She played collegiately for the North Carolina Tar Heels. She has been an assistant coach for Duke since 1992, overseeing its defensive unit principally. She was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2006.

Amber Campbell is an American hammer thrower. Campbell attended Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina and competed for the Chanticleer track team. She had her first international competition at the 2005 World Championships. She then competed in the 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2015 World Championships. Her first Olympic birth came at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. She then went on to compete at the 2012 Olympic Games as well. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil, Campbell advanced to the finals placing 6th finishing as the highest placing American woman ever.
Gary J. Dilley is an American former competition swimmer and Olympic medalist. He represented the United States at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where he received a silver medal in men's 200-meter backstroke, finishing second behind American teammate Jed Graef. Dilley set new Olympic records in the heats and semifinals, but Graef improved upon Dilley's records in the event's second semifinal and final.
