The Carolina Midland Railway was a railroad that served western South Carolina in the late 19th century.

The Carolina Midland was formed in 1891 with the consolidation of the Barnwell Railway and the Blackville, Alston and Newberry's Perry-to-Blackville line. [1] [2]

The Barnwell Railway was a shortline railroad that served western South Carolina in the late 19th century.

In addition to a line reaching from Blackville to Barnwell, the Carolina Midland extended its route from Barnwell to Allendale, South Carolina, also in 1891. [1]

The Barnwell and Searchlight Railway is a defunct 23-mile (37 km) short-line railroad that operated from 1906 - 1911. The railroad ran from Barnwell, California to Searchlight, Nevada. It was always operated by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.

The Colorado Midland Railway, incorporated in 1883, was the first standard gauge railroad built over the Continental Divide in Colorado. It ran from Colorado Springs to Leadville and through the divide at Hagerman Pass to Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction.

The Blackville–Hilda High School shooting was a school shooting that occurred on October 12, 1995, at Blackville–Hilda High School in Blackville, South Carolina, United States. The gunman, 16-year-old Anthony Sincino, was a student at Blackville–Hilda High School who was suspended from school at the time of the shooting. He fatally shot one teacher and wounded another teacher before he committed suicide.
