Castlehead High School is a non-denominational, mixed state secondary school in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. It was opened in 1971. [3] In 1989, John Neilson High School (founded as the John Neilson Institution in 1852) merged into Castlehead High School.
The primary schools that feed into Castlehead are Glencoats Primary School, Wallace Primary School and West Primary School. [4]
Castlehead is one of six Scottish Football Association Schools of Football. Under this program, twenty first-year students receive daily coaching, development and recovery sessions and other academic and social development activities. The Schools of Football program is funded through the Scottish Football Association's partnership with Cashback For Communities, a Scottish Government scheme that gives communities illicit monies seized from criminals.
On 8 September 2008, Castlehead hosted the draw for the first round of the 2008–09 Scottish Cup. [5]
The school's gym was closed in 2023 after reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete was found in the roof. [6]
One area of the school's performance identified as needing improvement on the 2005 evaluation was attendance. In recognition of the effort the school faculty, students and parents made, in 2006 the school won the Scottish Education Award: "Better Behaviour and Attendance Award". [7]

Rana Majid Haq Khan, better known as Majid Haq, is a Scottish cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and an off spin bowler. He has represented Scotland at Under 17, Under 19 and Under 23 levels, making his debut for the senior side on 20 July 2002 in a European Championship match against an England Board XI. He was a member of the Scottish squad for the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies. Haq is a cousin of fellow cricketer Omer Hussain. Both Hussain and Haq have played for Kelburne Cricket Club, Ferguslie Cricket Club and Clydesdale Cricket Club. He now plays for the Ayrshire-based club, Prestwick Cricket Club. Haq is of Pakistani descent.
St Mirin's Academy was a Catholic senior secondary school for boys founded in 1922 in Paisley, Scotland, and which closed in 1976. The school was dedicated to St Mirin, the patron saint of the town and of the Diocese of Paisley. The Academy's Latin motto was Fortis et Fidelis.
Gallowhill is a housing estate in the north east of Paisley, a town in Renfrewshire, Scotland.
