The Catholic Conference is a Massachusetts high school athletic conference whose member institutions are located primarily in Eastern part of Massachusetts. Its nine members include only all-boys and all-girls Catholic high schools. The Catholic Conference participates in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Division I in sports competitions.

Contents

The Catholic Conference is regarded as one of the most accomplished sports conferences in terms of its winning reputation, with 17 state football championships, 9 basketball championships, 34 ice hockey championships, and 15 swimming championships.

Current members

The Catholic Conference consists of 10 member institutions located primarily in Eastern Massachusetts. The geographic domain of the conference stretches from Shrewsbury in the west to Hingham in the east and from Danvers in the north to Westwood in the south.

On July 1, 2021, St. John's High School of Shrewsbury formally joined the Catholic Conference as the sixth boys' school. The Pioneers played the 2020–21 season in the Catholic Conference bubble due to the COVID–19 pandemic. [1]

Ice hockey

The Catholic Conference boasts very strong hockey programs. The conference has combined to win the Super 8 Hockey Tournament 22 times since its inception in 1991. Catholic Memorial has won the tournament 13 times, Boston College High School has won 6 times, and Malden Catholic has won 5 times. [3]

The school serves the students of the Northborough-Southborough Regional School District (NSRSD) comprising both Northborough and neighboring Southborough. The school's mascot as of February 11, 2022, is currently undecided, though the schools teams have a new name "The Titans". The former mascot was the Tomahawk, known by many as the "T-Hawk." On April 28, 2021, the Northborough-Southborough Regional School Committee voted, 9-0, to retire the Tomahawk as its mascot. The MIAA Division 1A Boys' Ice Hockey Tournament, commonly referred to as the Super Eight, is an annual boys' high school ice hockey tournament held by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) to determine the top boys' team in the state.

St. Augustine Preparatory School is a private all-male Roman Catholic. college preparatory school located in the Richland section of Buena Vista Township, in Atlantic County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Located on 118 acres (0.48 km2) of wooded property, it serves students in eighth through twelfth grade from across South Jersey under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Camden. Sports in Massachusetts have a long history with both amateur athletics and professional teams. Most of the major professional teams have won multiple championships in their respective leagues. Massachusetts teams have won 6 Stanley Cups, 17 NBA Championships, 6 Super Bowls, and 10 World Series. The New England Revolution won the MLS Supporter's Shield in 2021. Early basketball and volleyball was created in Massachusetts, which homes the Basketball Hall of Fame (Springfield), and the Volleyball Hall of Fame (Holyoke). Massachusetts also houses the Cape Cod Baseball League. It is also home to prestigious sports events such as the Boston Marathon and the Head of the Charles Regatta. The Falmouth Road Race in running and the Fitchburg Longsjo Classic in bicycle racing are also very popular events with long histories.

The Catholic Central League (CCL) is a high school athletic conference in district H of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association. Most league members are schools with Catholic affiliations. The league is based mostly in the eastern part of Massachusetts.
