Cedric Thomas is an American college football coach and former player. He is the Head Coach at Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi, a position he has held since December 2023. Thomas previously served as the defensive coordinator at Alcorn State and was appointed to the Head Coach position after the resignation of long-time coach Fred McNair. Thomas served as the head football coach at the University of Arkansas–Pine Bluff from 2018 to 2019 and Mississippi Delta Community College in 2021. Thomas played college football at Arkansas–Pine Bluff, before graduating in 2001.
The former MDCC and UAPB standout earned an Associate of Arts degree from MDCC in 1998, a bachelor's degree in recreation in 2001 from UAPB, and a master's degree in administration from Alcorn State in 2015.
The former East Side High School graduate is married to Kelunda, and the couple has one daughter, Loegan. Thomas also has a son, Cedric Jr.

The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) is a collegiate athletic conference headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, which is made up of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the Southern United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I for most sports; in football, it participates in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), formerly referred to as Division I-AA.
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) is a public historically black university in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Founded in 1873, it is the second oldest public college or university in Arkansas. It was one of about 180 "normal schools" established by state governments in the 19th century to train teachers for the rapidly growing public common schools. UAPB is part of the University of Arkansas System and Thurgood Marshall College Fund.
The Delta Classic 4 Literacy was a college football game held between historically black colleges. It was held annually in Little Rock, Arkansas from 2006 to 2012.
George Ivory is the head men's basketball coach for Mississippi Valley State University. He was the head men's basketball coach at the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff from 2008 to 2021. Previously, Ivory was an assistant at Mississippi Valley State, his alma mater, from 1998–2002, 2007–2008, and 2021–2022.
Archie Lee Cooley Jr. was an American college football coach. He served as the head football coach at Mississippi Valley State University from 1980 to 1986, University of Arkansas–Pine Bluff from 1987 to 1991, Norfolk State University in 1993, and Paul Quinn College from 2000 to 2006. At Mississippi Valley State, Cooley coached the tandem of Willie Totten and Jerry Rice, future College Football Hall of Fame quarterback and wide receiver, respectively.
The Southern Heritage Classic presented by FedEx is an annual historically black college football game between the Golden Lions of University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) and the Tigers of Tennessee State University. UAPB replaced Jackson State University after Jackson State played 29 games in the classic.
Don Treadwell is an American college football coach and former player. He was most recently the interim head coach at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, having previously served as the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach on Doc Gamble's staff. Treadwell served as the head football coach at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio from 2011 to 2013 and as the offensive coordinator at Michigan State University from 2007 to 2010. He also acted as interim head coach after Mark Dantonio suffered a heart attack during the 2010 season. However, Michigan State credits the entire season to Dantonio's record.
Carlos James is an American college baseball coach, formerly the head coach of the Arkansas–Pine Bluff Golden Lions baseball program. He was named to that position prior to the 2011 NCAA Division I baseball season.
Vannette William Johnson was an American football and track coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff—known as Arkansas Agricultural, Mechanical & Normal College prior to 1972—for 11 seasons, from 1962 to 1972, and compiled a record of 53–46–6.
James Edward Shaw was an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff for four seasons, from 1976 to 1979, compiling a record of 15–24–1. A graduated of Miles College in Birmingham, Alabama, Shaw began his coaching career at Carver High School in Bessemer, Alabama. He was assistant football coach at Alcorn Agricultural and Mechanical College—now known as Alcorn State University—from 1966 to 1968 and at Eastern Michigan University, where he earned a master's degree in health and physical education. Shaw was the offensive coordinator at Southern University for four seasons, from 1972 to 1975, prior to being hired at Arkansas–Pine Bluff in January 1976.
Tederal Duralle White is an American football coach and former quarterback. Before coaching, White played for the Frankfurt Galaxy and Barcelona Dragons as part of NFL Europe in the early 2000s. From 2003 to 2005, White was the backup quarterback for the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League. With both leagues, White had a combined total of 2,568 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.

The Golden Lions were led by second-year head coach Cedric Thomas and played their home games at Simmons Bank Field in Pine Bluff, Arkansas as members of the West Division of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
Harold Blevins is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He was a four-year starter for the Arkansas AM&N Golden Lions, where he is considered one of the program's greatest scorers. Blevins was a three-time National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American and four-time All-Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) selection.
Charles "Doc" Gamble is an American football coach. He is currently the special teams coordinator at Florida A&M University and was previously the head football coach at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, a position he held from 2020 through October 2022.
Alonzo Mondeal Hampton is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, a position he has held since 2023. He played college football for Louisiana–Monroe as a cornerback and professionally for the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe. He previously coached for Warren High School, Dumas High School, Arkansas–Pine Bluff, Western Kentucky, Tift County High School, South Florida, Oregon, Florida State, Arkansas, and Louisiana–Monroe.
