Cedrick R. Manzano, nicknamed "Ced" or "Baby Boy", is a Filipino college basketball player for the Adamson Soaring Falcons of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).

Early life

Initially a Palarong Pambansa volleyball [1] player during elementary school days, Manzano shifted to basketball and played for the Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix. [2] [3] [4]

Collegiate career

Manzano and the Adamson Soaring Falcons figured in three straight UAAP Final Four playoffs, winning over the De La Salle Green Archers and the UE Red Warriors under head coach Nash Racela and assistant coach Gilbert Lao from 2022 to 2024. [5] [6] [7]

Three days before facing the defending champs in the semis, Manzano was the Soaring Falcons' best player, with an efficient, double-double performance of 17 points and 10 rebounds in the fourth-seed tiebreaker. [8] [9] [10]

Manzano averaged 9 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block in UAAP Season 87. [11] [12]

Personal details

On November 21, 2023, Manzano's father died a day before the Ateneo-Adamson playoff which he played nonetheless. [13] [14]

UAAP Season 79 is the 2016–2017 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season, hosted by the University of Santo Tomas officially opened on September 3, 2016. The opening ceremony was held at the UST Plaza Mayor at 3:00 pm with the formal introduction of ballroom dancing as a demonstration sport in this season by the host school University of Santo Tomas (UST) at España, Manila. The official ceremony started at 5:00 pm as there was a concert party themed "Dare to Dream" where the official theme song for the season was revealed. However, unlike in the previous years when the first double-header basketball games were held following the opening ceremonies, this year it was held the following day, September 4 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The UAAP Season 78 basketball tournaments are held in school year 2015-16. University of the Philippines Diliman is the season host. The basketball tournaments started with a doubleheader basketball games after the opening ceremonies on September 5, 2015, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and ended on December 2, 2015, at the Mall of Asia Arena, while the junior's basketball has currently been held since November. ABS-CBN's UHF channel ABS-CBN Sports and Action broadcast the men's tournament for the sixteenth consecutive year.

The UAAP Season 79 basketball tournaments are held in school year 2016–17. University of Santo Tomas is the season host while Far Eastern University are the defending champions. ABS-CBN's UHF channel ABS-CBN Sports and Action broadcast the men's tournament for the seventeenth consecutive year.

The UAAP Season 80 basketball tournaments were the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball tournaments for the 2017–18 school year. The tournaments are divided into men's, women's and juniors' divisions, for male and female college players and male high school players, respectively. The host school for the seniors' division was Far Eastern University, while Ateneo de Manila University was the sub-host for the juniors' division.
