Celebrity Treasure Island 2019 marked the show's return after a hiatus of more than a decade. [1] Hosted by Survivor NZ producer and host, Matt Chisholm, as well as ZM radio's Drive host Bree Tomasel. The classic Kiwi game show will have 16 celebrity castaways pair up as they complete challenges for the chance to win $100,000 for their charity of choice in Fiji. The season premiered on Sunday 18 August, 7 pm and continues Monday & Tuesday 7.30 pm, TVNZ 2. [2] This was to be the final show that Matt Chisholm presented with TVNZ. [3]

Sam Wallace was the sole Kāhu member left, and the eventual winner, who took $100,000 for Starship Hospital. [4] Shane Cameron and Gary 'The Wiz' Freeman were the other two finalists, and Athena Angelou finished fourth. This season raised $170,000 across 9 various charities across Aotearoa.

Castaways

The 16 celebrities were initially separated into two tribes with te reo Māori names based on fauna of New Zealand: Mako (Shortfin Shark) and Kāhu (Swamp Harrier), including the merged tribe as Kākāriki (parakeets).

The 16 contestants were: Boxer Shane Cameron; former Canterbury and All Black winger, Zac Guildford; DJ Athena Angelou; Olympic champion board sailor Barbara Kendall; Olympic champion rower and road cycling time trialist, Eric Murray; former rugby league star and coach Gary 'The Wiz' Freeman; actress Jodie Rimmer; Former Shortland Street star Karl Burnett (retired due to mental exhaustion); singer Ladi6; fitness model and middle-distance runner Lana Van Hout; former Bachelor contestant Lily McManus; TVNZ morning show weatherman Matty McLean; former weatherman, children show host and current DJ Sam Wallace; Moses Mackay of Sol3 Mio; influencer, model and former charity boxer Roseanna Arkle; and former C4 host and DJ turned yoga instructor, Shannon Ryan. Survivor: All-Stars is the eighth season of the American CBS competitive reality television series Survivor. It was filmed from November 3, 2003, through December 11, 2003, and premiered on February 1, 2004, after Super Bowl XXXVIII. Treasure Island is a reality competition television franchise. The programme originated in New Zealand in 1997, where it was originally produced by Touchdown Television and broadcast by TVNZ, with later editions produced for broadcasters in Australia and Ireland. In the programme, contestants are isolated on a remote Fijian island and compete for a cash prize of NZ$25,000. From the 2019 edition, the winner of the Celebrity Treasure Island will receive NZ$100,000 and NZ$50,000 for the regular season their chosen charity.

The Great Kiwi Bake Off is a New Zealand television baking competition based on The Great British Bake Off in which 12 amateur bakers compete in a series of baking challenges. Celebrity Treasure Island 2021 is the 11th season overall, and the fifth celebrity season of the New Zealand reality-television series Treasure Island. After a break in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fifth edition of Celebrity Treasure Island was filmed in the summer of 2021 on an island off the coast of Ngātaki, in Northland, New Zealand, instead of the usual location, Fiji. The season premiered on 6 September, and airs weekly, Monday to Wednesday, at 7:30 PM on TVNZ 2. Celebrity Treasure Island 2022 is the sixth celebrity edition and the 12th season overall of the New Zealand reality-television series Treasure Island which returned to Ngātaki, Northland, New Zealand. This season premiered on 5 September, and aired weekly, Monday to Wednesday, at 7:30 PM on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+; hosted by Matt Chisholm and Bree Tomasel. One of the twenty-one celebrities won a grand prize of $100,000 for their chosen charity.

Treasure Island 2023 was the seventh regular edition and the 13th season overall of the New Zealand reality-television series Treasure Island which returned to Mamanuca Islands, Fiji since the COVID-19 pandemic. This season premiered on January 30, 2023, and aired weekly, Monday to Wednesday, at 7:30 PM on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+; hosted by Bree Tomasel and a new co-host Jayden Daniels. This season was the first season to include former seasons contestants and a winner since Superstars of Treasure Island in 2005, competed in charity challenges and a chance to win $50,000.

Celebrity Treasure Island 2023 is the seventh celebrity edition and the 14th season overall of the New Zealand reality-television series Treasure Island which filmed for the first time in Wānaka, Te Waipounamu/South Island while Cyclone Gabrielle affected the North Island in the summer of 2023.
