Celebrity Treasure Island 2024 is the eighth celebrity edition and the 15th season overall of the New Zealand reality-television series Treasure Island which filmed for the first time in Mercury Bay, Coromandel Peninsula, North Island in the summer of 2024. [1]
This season premiered on September 9, 2024, and aired weekly, Monday to Wednesday, at 7:30 PM on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+, hosted by Bree Tomasel and former contestant Lance Savali. [2]
Eighteen celebrities [3] were be separated into two tribes with te reo Māori names based on fauna of New Zealand: Aihe (Dolphin) and Wētā (Anostostomatidae), including the merged tribe as Kōura (Crayfish). [4]

The Challenge is a reality competition show on MTV that is a spin-off of two of the network's reality shows, The Real World and Road Rules. Premiering in 1998, it originally featured alumni from these two shows. Casting for The Challenge has slowly expanded to include contestants who debuted on The Challenge itself, alumni from other MTV franchises including Are You the One?, Ex on the Beach, Geordie Shore, siblings and friends, and from other non-MTV shows and competitions. Starting in 2015, new contestants were chosen outside of MTV network alumni from different networks like CBS and Bravo. The contestants compete against one another in various extreme challenges to avoid elimination. The winners of the final challenge win the competition and typically share a large cash prize. The Challenge is currently hosted by T. J. Lavin.

Treasure Island is a reality competition television franchise. The programme originated in New Zealand in 1997, where it was originally produced by Touchdown Television and broadcast by TVNZ, with later editions produced for broadcasters in Australia and Ireland. Kevin Ronald Tamati is a New Zealand former rugby league representative player and coach. He played at representative level for New Zealand, New Zealand Māori, Auckland, Central Districts and Wellington, and professionally at club level for Widnes, Warrington and Salford, Chorley Borough in the forwards. He has coached the New Zealand Māori, and professionally for Salford, Chorley Borough/Lancashire Lynx, British Army Rugby League and Whitehaven. He is the cousin of fellow international Howie Tamati.

The show features an equal number of South African celebrities and public contestants competing in a luxurious, paradise-island location for a cash prize. MasterChef Celebrity is a Spanish competitive reality television cooking show based on the British television cooking game show of the same title. It is a special spin-off of the series MasterChef Spain, that premiered on La 1 on 10 April 2013. The show was hosted by Eva González until the 4th season of the series. Jordi Cruz, Samantha Vallejo-Nágera and Pepe Rodríguez repeat as the judges of the show as in the amateur editions. The first season premiered the 6 of November 2016.
The Great Kiwi Bake Off is a New Zealand television baking competition based on The Great British Bake Off in which 12 amateur bakers compete in a series of baking challenges. The show's first episode was aired on 16 October 2018 on TVNZ 2. The show is hosted by Hayley Sproull and Madeleine Sami, with judges Dean Brettschneider and Sue Fleischl. The show, like other spinoffs of The Great British Bake Off, uses a similar style, format, and opening theme song to the British series. Like the British series, the show is followed by a recap special called An Extra Slice, hosted by Chris Parker, discussing the episode of the week and interviewing contestants who have been eliminated.

After a break in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fifth edition of Celebrity Treasure Island was filmed in the summer of 2021 on an island off the coast of Ngataki, in Northland, New Zealand, instead of the usual location, Fiji. The season premiered on 6 September, and airs weekly, Monday to Wednesday, at 7:30 PM on TVNZ 2. Matt Chisholm and Bree Tomasel returned as hosts. 21 new celebrity castaways take part on home soil, going head-to-head for the chance to win NZ$100,000 for their chosen charity.
Celebrity Treasure Island 2019 marked the show's return after a hiatus of more than a decade. Hosted by Survivor NZ producer and host, Matt Chisholm, as well as ZM radio's Drive host Bree Tomasel. The classic Kiwi game show will have 16 celebrity castaways pair up as they complete challenges for the chance to win $100,000 for their charity of choice in Fiji. The season premiered on Sunday 18 August, 7 pm and continues Monday & Tuesday 7.30 pm, TVNZ 2. This was to be the final show that Matt Chisholm presented with TVNZ.

This season premiered on 30 January 2023, and aired weekly, Monday to Wednesday, at 7:30 PM on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+; hosted by Bree Tomasel and a new co-host Jayden Daniels. This season was the first season to include former seasons contestants and a winner since Superstars of Treasure Island in 2005, competed in charity challenges and a chance to win $50,000.
