The Kinindo Medical and Surgical Center (French : Centre Medico-Chirurgical de Kinindo, CMCK) is a private hospital in Bujumbura, Burundi.
The CMCK is in the suburb of Kinindo in the southern part of Bujumbura, on the west side of the RN3 highway. It is opposite the Petit Seminaire to the east. [1] The CMCK is in southern sanitary district of Kinindo. [2]
The CMCK opened on 8 December 1999. It is a referral hospital. [2] It undertakes a wide range of surgical procedures. As of 2019 the CMCK Hospital was one of the best equipped in Burundi. [3]
The CMCK opened a cancer care center in June 2020, where it treats 26 types of cancer. [4] Dr Sylvie Nzeyimana, Minister of Public Health and the fight against AIDS, visiter the CMCK on 18 February 2022 during World Cancer Day. She praised the CMCK for taking care of cancer patients, including those with breast cancer and prostate cancer. [5]
Bujumbura, formerly Usumbura, is the economic capital, largest city and main port of Burundi. It ships most of the country's chief export, coffee, as well as cotton and tin ore. Bujumbura was formerly the country's political capital. In late December 2018, Burundian president Pierre Nkurunziza announced that he would follow through on a 2007 promise to return Gitega its former political capital status, with Bujumbura remaining as economical capital and center of commerce. A vote in the Parliament of Burundi made the change official on 16 January 2019, with all branches of government expected to move to Gitega within three years.

The hospital was funded by Swiss investors, a local insurance company and local individuals, and opened in 2015 to provide specialist services that had not been available in Burundi. In 2022 the hospital was taken over by a group associated with the government, and services repidly declined. Aid from the primary European donor was cut off in May 2024 due to concerns over potentially illegal activity.
