The Centre for Music and Performing Arts (or CMPA) is a specialised department of the Colchester Institute. The centre caters to all kinds of performing arts, including classical music, jazz and popular music studies, vocal instruction, acting and musical theatre. The department has been noted as being one of the finest in East Anglia and one of the best music departments in England. Graduates of the Music Diploma and Degree have gone on to schools such as the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music and the Guildhall School in London.
The centre offers a range of qualifications for people wishing to train in the Performing Arts including the specialised BTEC National Diplomas in Music Practice and Performance, for those wishing study intensively before going to specialist universities and colleges.
The Centre now offers courses in musical theatre for students wanting a more performance-based course. Currently, the National Diploma in Music Theatre and the Foundation Degree (or FdA) in Musical Theatre provide students with training in jazz, ballet, tap, singing, acting and musical theatre repertoire.

The Guildhall School of Music and Drama is a music and drama school located in the City of London, England. Established in 1880, the school offers undergraduate and postgraduate training in all aspects of classical music and jazz along with drama and production arts. The school has students from over seventy countries. It was ranked first in both the Guardian’s 2022 League Table for Music and the Complete University Guide's 2023 Arts, Drama and Music league table. It is also ranked the sixth university in the world for performing arts in the 2022 QS World University Rankings.
The Juilliard School, often abbreviated simply as Juilliard, is a private performing arts conservatory in New York City. Founded by Frank Damrosch as the Institute of Musical Art in 1905, the school later added dance and drama programs and became the Juilliard School, which is named after its principal benefactor Augustus D. Juilliard. Juilliard is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious performing arts schools in the world and ranks among the top schools for performing arts.
The New England Conservatory of Music (NEC) is a private music school in Boston, Massachusetts. It is the oldest continuously operating independent music conservatory in the United States and among the most prestigious in the world. The conservatory is located on Huntington Avenue along the Avenue of the Arts near Boston Symphony Hall, and is home to approximately 750 students pursuing undergraduate and graduate studies, and 1,500 more in its Preparatory School and School of Continuing Education. Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts is a technical college in South Korea specialized in training professionals in the fields of media design, production, and communications. The campus is situated in Samjuk-myeon, Anseong City, Gyeonggi province, South Korea. The name has been changed to Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts as of January 15, 2007.
South Gloucestershire and Stroud College, also known as SGS College, is a college of further education and higher education based in South Gloucestershire and Stroud, England. It was established in February 2012 following the merger of Filton College and Stroud College. The college is made up of six campuses located in and around Bristol, North Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Stroud. The Elder Conservatorium of Music, also known as "The Con", is Australia's senior academy of music and is located in the centre of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. It is named in honour of its benefactor, Sir Thomas Elder. Dating in its earliest form from 1883, it has a history in professional training for musical performance, musical composition, research in all fields of music, and music education. The Elder Conservatorium of Music and its forerunners have been parts of the University of Adelaide since the early 1880s.
The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts is a performing arts conservatoire based in Woking, England. It was founded by the actress Italia Conti in 1911. The first production at Italia Conti Academy was the play Where the Rainbow Ends, in which Italia Conti was tasked with training the cast. Italia Conti is a member of the Federation of Drama Schools and accredited by the Council for Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre.

The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama is a conservatoire located in Cardiff, Wales. It includes three theatres: the Richard Burton Theatre, the Bute Theatre, and the Caird Studio. The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is a music school, drama school and concert venue in Birmingham, England. It provides education in music, acting, and related disciplines up to postgraduate level. The Boston University College of Fine Arts(CFA) at Boston University consists of the School of Music, the School of Theatre, and the School of Visual Arts. Each school offers degrees in the performing and visual arts at the undergraduate and graduate level. Among the College of Fine Arts faculty are artists, scholars, and performers. Since the College of Fine Arts is integrated into Boston University, students at CFA may choose courses in the other undergraduate colleges at Boston University. CFA students can also apply for the Boston University Collaborative Degree Program (BUCOP), where students simultaneously earn undergraduate degrees at CFA and in one of 14 undergraduate colleges of the university.
