[3] Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School acts as a way for students to receive high school credits as well as college credits simultaneously. Once accepted into said program you would spend the next two years completing both your high school diploma as well as your Associate of Arts degree. Polk State College Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School is a public charter school that provides highly motivated 11th and 12th-grade students from throughout Polk County with a distinctive experience, blending traditional high school with collegiate coursework.

Application Process

To apply for this program you must be a high school junior or senior with an unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher to qualify for COL’s Information Systems, Allied Health, or Criminal Justice program, or a 3.0 unweighted GPA for the AA (Associate of Arts) degree program. You must have a minimum of 11 high school credits at the end of your tenth-grade year and be on track for earning a standard Florida high school diploma. The process in which applicants are picked resembles a raffle ticket, those who meet the requirements are chosen at random to attend. Things needed to be submitted with the application include PERT scores (not all three have the submitted one or two will suffice). The math PERT is required for further collegiate placement. You will also need to submit your high school transcript.

Cost

Many enjoy the opportunity this program provides as it is free of cost. This includes textbooks and courses. (textbooks are on loan for the semester and must be returned).

Location

Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School is located at the Polk State College Winter Haven campus. However, you can take your college classes at any Polk State location. You can also take classes during the summer terms and evenings at no additional cost. COL has advisers to help you find the schedule and coursework that best fit your special talents, plans and capabilities. Upon acceptance, an initial academic planning meeting is scheduled to create a plan of study for your last two years of high school. Your counselor will guide and advise you through the process of registration and choosing classes.

Bright Futures is the name of a scholarship program in the state of Florida. It is funded by the Florida Lottery and was first started in 1997.

College Preparatory Center

Saudi Aramco's College Preparatory Center (CPC) is where the College Preparatory Program (CPP) is held. It is a pre-requisite to enter the College Degree Program for Non Employees (CDPNE), a highly selective program established in 1985 by the Saudi Arabian Oil Company, Saudi Aramco. The CPP is a 10-months program of study at the CPC for boys and STC which is located inside the seniors' campus, for girls. After those ten months, students move on to universities abroad either to the US, UK, Canada, China, Korea, Japan, or Australia and New Zealand to finish their 4-year bachelor's degree education under the CDPNE program.

HOPE Scholarship

The HOPE Program created in 1993 under the supervision of Georgia Governor Zell Miller, is Georgia's scholarship and grant program that rewards students with financial assistance in degree, diploma, and certificate programs at eligible Georgia public and private colleges and universities, and public technical colleges. HOPE is funded entirely by revenue from the Georgia Lottery and is administered by the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC).

Alpha Phi Sigma

Alpha Phi Sigma (ΑΦΣ) is the only Criminal Justice Honor Society accredited by the Association of College Honor Societies. Traditionally a national organization serving United States universities, recent expansion into Canadian universities has distinguished Alpha Phi Sigma as an international honor society. Established in January 1942 at Washington State University, Alpha Phi Sigma recognizes academic excellence of undergraduate and graduate students of criminal justice, as well as those seeking a Juris Doctor degree. Presently, its national headquarters is located at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The society's newsletter is called 'The Docket'.

The Master of Education is a master's degree awarded by universities in many countries. This degree in education often includes the following majors: curriculum and instruction, counseling, school psychology, and administration. It is often conferred for educators advancing in their field. Similar degrees include the Master of Arts in Education and the Master of Science in Education.

Freedom High School (Orlando, Florida) High school in Orlando, Florida

Freedom High School is located in Orlando, Florida. It is one of twenty public high schools in Orange County. The school was established in 2003 in order to relieve crowding at nearby Cypress Creek High School; like other relief high schools, they share a rivalry. FSU Young Scholars Program

FSU Young Scholars Program (YSP) is a six-week residential science and mathematics summer program for 40 high school students from Florida, USA, with significant potential for careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The program was developed in 1983 and is currently administered by the Office of Science Teaching Activities in the College of Arts and Sciences at Florida State University (FSU).

Collegiate High School is a charter high school located on the Lakeland, Florida campus of Polk State College.

Since the founding of the Honors Program at Drexel in 1991, Honors has been a vital presence on campus, developing into the self-standing Pennoni Honors College in 2002. The College sponsors initiatives that serve Honors Program students and the Drexel community at large. The College five distinct units that overlap in significant ways: the Honors Program serves selected high-achieving students with coursework and special programming; the Office of Undergraduate Research supports student research across the university and matches students with faculty mentors; the Center for Interdisciplinary Inquiry offers a changing series of cross-disciplinary courses as well as a program where qualified students can craft their own field of study; the Fellowships Office helps students prepare and apply for competitive grants and scholarships; and the Cultural Media Center offers students involvement with a nationally recognized online journal, The Smart Set, and a nationally distributed television talk show, The Drexel Interview. The College Academy @ BC Central is a joint venture between The School Board of Broward County and Broward College. The College Academy @ BC Central Campus offers high school juniors and seniors enrolled as full-time students in the program the opportunity to receive a high school diploma from The School Board of Broward County, Florida and an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Broward College. The rigorous nature of the program helps students qualify for the State of Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The College Academy is designed for students who have the maturity required for college campus life and the academic ability to handle the rigor of college work. Both high school and dual enrollment courses are taught on the BC Central campus. An extension to North Campus has been opened in the fall of 2015. Students take between 12 and 18 college credits Fall and Winter Terms and approximately 6 college credits Session I of the Summer Term. Students must maintain a 2.5 unweighted grade point average in order to remain at The College Academy.

Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT) is a computer adaptive test which measures a student's level of preparedness for college level courses.
