Chandra Kumara is a 1963 Indian Kannada-language film, directed by N. S. Varma and produced by T Madar. The film stars Rajkumar, Udaykumar, Rajashankar and Narasimharaju. The film has musical scores by T. Chalapathi Rao and M. Venkataraju. [1] [2]
The plot is about a man faces who face a lot of problems in his life and learns a lesson through a hard way that neither fate nor destiny can be changed by human efforts. Udaykumar played the titular character Chandrakumara while Rajkumar appeared as his father in law Prachanda. Krishnakumari played the role of Rajkumar's daughter. This is the only movie in which Rajkumar played the role of father in law to Udaykumar. [3]
Gaali Gopura is a 1962 Kannada-language film directed and produced by B. R. Panthulu. The film starred Rajkumar, Kalyan Kumar, Leelavathi and R. Nagendra Rao. Actor Udaya Kumar made a brief guest appearance. Acclaimed director Puttanna Kanagal had assisted Panthulu for this film.
Abba Aa Hudugi is a 1959 Indian Kannada-language film written, directed and produced by H. L. N. Sinha based on his own play of the same name. It stars Rajashankar in his debut role, Rajkumar in an extended cameo along with Narasimharaju, Mynavathi and Pandari Bai. It is considered a landmark film in Kannada cinema. Critics have noted that the theme of the movie is loosely based on William Shakespeare 's The Taming of the Shrew. The film was dubbed in Tamil with the title Mangaikku Maangalyame Pradhaanam and was released in 1960. Dialogues were written by S. A. Subbaraman. Jeevan composed the music; while Puratchidasan wrote the lyrics. In short, this film also marked the only Kannada film for Malayalam actress Sukumari.
Aasha Sundari is a 1960 Kannada-language film, directed by Hunsur Krishnamurthy and produced and written by S. Bhavanarayana. The film starred Krishnakumari in the title role, besides Rajkumar, Harini and M. N. Lakshmi Devi in other pivotal roles. The film, produced under Gowri Productions, has musical score composed by Susarla Dakshinamurthi, with lyrics written by the director himself. Hunsur Krishnamurthy simultaneously made the movie in Telugu as Rama Sundari starring Kanta Rao. Rajkumar played dual role in a small portion of the movie where the second character appears only for few minutes.

The movie was a profitable venture and was declared a super hit.

The film was a remake of the 1954 Bengali film Banga Kora which in turn was based on the novel Bijila by Prabhavathi Devi Saraswathi. The Bengali movie was also earlier remade in Tamil as Kula Dheivam and in Hindi as Bhabhi. Pandari Bai reprised her role in all versions except Bengali.
