Changer is an Icelandic death metal / metalcore [1] band, formed in 1999. The band has released three albums and three EPs.
Changer was founded in October 1999 in Akureyri, Iceland, by drummer Kristján B. Heiðarsson, as a one-man project. Kristján wrote and recorded the band's first album, January 109 , in January 2000. The recordings were handled by his friend Aðalsteinn Már Björnssson, who soon after was killed in a car accident. [2] The album was released on 29 February 2000.
In May 2000, Kristján moved to Reykjavík and started assembling a full band. A full line-up was established in late 2000. Changer began playing gigs in Iceland in 2001, and traveled to Akureyri in the spring to record an EP, Inconsistency , which consisted of two new songs along with reworkings of two songs from January 109; it was released in July 2001.
Recording for the next album began in late December 2002, but Scenes was not released until 13 February 2004.
In 2005, Changer played overseas for the first time, at Nevelfest in Antwerp, Belgium. [3] Shortly after coming home again, major line-up changes took place in the band.
Changer started rehearsing and writing new material, and in May 2006 the band toured Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. A new EP, Breed the Lies , was released on 1 June 2006. Mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studios, Denmark, the EP was placed at number 16-20 on the Icelandic Grapevine as one of the best albums of Iceland for 2006. [4] Later in 2006, the band toured Iceland in support of Cannibal Corpse and Rotting Christ at Eistnaflug. [5] Also during this time, they were featured in a web series which focuses on the Icelandic scene called 'Sleepless in Reykjavik' in which their music video for "Recaptured Sanity" was used in the first episode. [5] In August 2007, Gisli parted ways with the band and looked for a new bassist to replace him. [5] Jón Karl soon joined, though only for a short time and then Atli Jarl Martin joined as permanent bassist.
Changer planned to travel abroad to record their next album; however, in November 2007 the band unexpectedly broke up. They planned to release the demos from 2006 and 2007 in the near future. As of 2008, the band has reformed by founder Kristján. In 2010, Changer released their third full-length entitled Darkling.
In 2021 the band got back together for a reunion gig and following a studio session and released their first song in 12 years in early 2021. They subsequently released EP called Pledge of the Dying in 2022.

Bands such as Þeyr, Tappi Tíkarrass, Purrkur Pillnikk, among others, were considered some of the most important bands at the moment. The image cover for this release is a picture of singer Björk performing with Tappi Tíkarrass.
The record sold over 2000 copies. Ira Robbins from Trouser Press stated that the album is a good compilation album to get to know Icelandic music.
Solefald is a Norwegian avant-garde metal/black metal band that was formed by members Lars Are "Lazare" Nedland and Cornelius Jakhelln in August 1995, with Nedland singing and playing keyboard/synthesizer/piano and drums, and Jakhelln singing and playing guitar and bass. The duo experiment with a wide array of musical styles, frequently work on other projects, and rarely perform live under the Solefald name, leading them to describe themselves as "two stubborn goats pretending to be a band." According to the duo, their name is an Old Norse word for "sunset," taken from one of Theodor Kittelsen's paintings illustrating a poem of the same name by Theodor Caspari, published in the 1901 book Vintereventyr.
Ásmegin is a Norwegian folk/viking metal band formed in 1998. The name comes from Old Norse and means "Might of the Æsir" or "Might of the Gods". Ásmegin's lyrics are written in Norwegian as well as some in Old Norse and older Norwegian. Some of the tracks on Hin vordende Sod og Sø are modeled after the Norwegian play Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen.
Fræbbblarnir is an Icelandic punk-pop musical group. They were formed in Iceland in 1978 and released a number of records until they quit early in 1983. A punk-pop band playing short, melodic songs fast and raw, they were inspired by the Ramones, Clash, Stranglers, Jam, Sex Pistols, Damned, Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias, Stiff Little Fingers, Undertones, Buzzcocks, Crass, Elvis Costello, Ian Dury and the rest of the early punk and New Wave scene, as well as 1960s bands like the Kinks and Troggs. They appeared in the documentary Rokk í Reykjavík, and the album “Viltu nammi væna?” is regarded as a classic.
Dark Suns is a German progressive metal band formed in 1997. It is currently composed of guitarists Maik Knappe and Torsten Wenzel, with Maik's brother Niko performing the vocals and drums. The band has released one demo, one EP, and five studio albums as of 2016.

The Dangerfields are a punk rock/heavy metal band based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, formed in 2000. Fronted by drummer and lead vocalist Andrew Griswold, the band has gone through many line-up changes. They have released one album and four EPs, and played more than 800 live gigs, including playing their 666th gig on 06/06/06.
Sign is an Icelandic rock band that was formed in 2000, as Halim, to compete in the Icelandic version of the Battle of the bands called Musiktilraunir. The band's frontman and founding member Ragnar Zolberg is also a solo artist and was a guitar player in the Swedish band Pain of Salvation. Sign has toured with bands such as Wednesday 13, The Wildhearts, Aiden, The Answer, Skid Row and played a show with Alice Cooper in Iceland. In August 2007 Sign played their first headline tour of the UK.

Northeast is one of the six multi-member constituencies of the Althing, the national legislature of Iceland. The constituency was established as Northeastern in 1959 following the nationwide extension of proportional representation for elections to the Althing. It was renamed Northeast in 2003 when most of the Eastern constituency was merged into the Northeastern constituency following the re-organisation of constituencies across Iceland. Northeast consists of the regions of Eastern and Northeastern. The constituency currently elects nine of the 63 members of the Althing using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2021 parliamentary election it had 29,847 registered electors.

It won the national championship in 1997 and the Icelandic Basketball Cup in 2008 and 2015.
The Icelandic Aviation Museum covers the history of aviation in Iceland. It is housed at Akureyri Airport and was formally opened on 24 June 2000.
