Charles Jamaal Blake is an American Democratic politician who represented the 36th district in the Arkansas House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019. The district contains a portion of Little Rock and is entirely contained in Pulaski County. [1] Blake resigned in 2019 to work for Little Rock's mayor,being replaced by Denise Jones Ennett in a special election. [2] [3]

Harvey Parnell was an American farmer and politician from Southeast Arkansas. Parnell served in the Arkansas General Assembly for eight years,first in the Arkansas House of Representatives,and later serving a term in the Arkansas Senate. Following the re-establishment of the lieutenant governor position,Parnell won the statewide election and served under Governor John Martineau. When Martineau resigned to take a federal judgeship in March 1928,Parnell was elevated to become the state's 29th governor,a position he would hold until 1933. Early in his time as governor,Parnell was responsible for Progressive reforms popular with rural voters,including expansion and modernization of the highway system and public school reform. But as the Dust Bowl and Great Depression ravaged the Arkansas economy,Parnell's programs were blamed for bankrupting the state,and his popularity plummeted. He left politics after his second full gubernatorial term ended in January 1933.
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is a public research university in Little Rock,Arkansas. Established as Little Rock Junior College by the Little Rock School District in 1927,the institution became a private four-year university under the name Little Rock University in 1957. It returned to public status in 1969 when it merged with the University of Arkansas System under its present name. The former campus of Little Rock Junior College is now (2019) the campus of Philander Smith College.
John Timothy Griffin is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 20th lieutenant governor of Arkansas since 2015. A member of the Republican Party,he previously was the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas between 2006 and 2007 and U.S. Representative for Arkansas's 2nd congressional district from 2011 to 2015. Griffin defeated Democrat John Burkhalter in 2014 and has served under Governor Asa Hutchinson since holding the lieutenant governorship. In summer 2020,Griffin announced his candidacy for the 2022 Arkansas gubernatorial election,but withdrew from the race in February 2021 to run for Arkansas Attorney General instead.
