Charles L. Brooks III is an American theoretical and computational biophysicist. [3] He is the Cyrus Levinthal Distinguished University Professor of Chemistry and Biophysics, the Warner-Lambert/Park-Davis Professor of Chemistry, Professor of Biophysics and Chair of Biophysics at the University of Michigan. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Brooks co-authored Proteins: A Theoretical Perspective of Dynamics, Structure, and Thermodynamics [5] with 2013 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Martin Karplus, and B. Montgomery Pettitt. He has authored over 250 peer reviewed journal articles and is also an Editorial Board Member for the journals Molecular Simulation and Proteins. Since 2004, he has been the North American Editor for the Journal of Computational Chemistry .
B. Montgomery "Monte" Pettitt is the Director of the Sealy Center for Structural Biology and Molecular Biophysics at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, holder of the Robert A. Welch Distinguished Chair in Chemistry, and tenured Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, as well as the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. He is also affiliated with and former director of The W. M. Keck Center at Rice University, and a faculty member of the Structural and Computational Biology and Molecular Biophysics program at Baylor College of Medicine. At the University of Houston, he was the Hugh Roy and Lille Cranz Cullen Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Robert A. Welch Chair in Chemistry, as well as the director of its Institute for Molecular Design.

Martin Karplus is an Austrian and American theoretical chemist. He is the Director of the Biophysical Chemistry Laboratory, a joint laboratory between the French National Center for Scientific Research and the University of Strasbourg, France. He is also the Theodore William Richards Professor of Chemistry, emeritus at Harvard University. Karplus received the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, together with Michael Levitt and Arieh Warshel, for "the development of multiscale models for complex chemical systems".

Devarajan (Dave) Thirumalai, an Indian-born American physicist, is the Collie-Welch Reagents Professor in Chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin. His research spans equilibrium and non-equilibrium statistical mechanics, such as the transition from liquid to amorphous state, polymer-colloid interactions, and protein and RNA folding. He is known for his contributions to the theories of protein/RNA folding, protein aggregation, glasses, and biological machines. He also does research in intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs), organization and dynamics of chromosome and cell biophysics. Prior to moving to the University of Texas at Austin, he was a distinguished university professor in the University of Maryland from 2010 to 2015.
