The Rev. Charles L. O'Donnell,C.S.C. (Nov. 15,1884- Jun. 4,1934) was an American Catholic priest,military chaplain of the US Army and President of the University of Notre Dame from 1928 to 1934. He served as military chaplain in World War I,and his helmet is still hanging on the east door in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. [1]
Rev. O'Donnell appreciated both the academic vision and improvements of Cavanaugh and Burns and the practical consideration of Walsh,who greatly expanded facilities,and combined both aspects during his presidency. In 1929,he built the Notre Dame Stadium. He also restored Sacred Heart Church and constructed the law school building. In 1931,construction of Alumni and Dillon was begun,in addition to the Cushing Hall of Engineering and a new heating plant. This rapid expansion,which cost the University more than $2,800,000,was made possible in large part through football revenues. Academically,O'Donnell eliminated in 1929 the school for Minims,which created more room for college students. He actively sought distinguished lecturers throughout his presidency and attracted William Butler Yeats to visit campus. O'Donnell also established a new coat of arms and for the University,because he felt that the old one was indistinguishable from the seal of the Holy Cross order.

Theodore Martin Hesburgh,CSC was an American Catholic priest and academic who was a member of the Congregation of Holy Cross. He is best known for his service as the president of the University of Notre Dame for thirty-five years (1952–1987).

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Notre Dame,Indiana,is a Catholic church on the campus of the University of Notre Dame,also serving as the mother church of the Congregation of Holy Cross (C.S.C.) in the United States. The neo-gothic church has 44 large stained glass windows and murals completed over a 17-year period by the Vatican painter Luigi Gregori. The basilica bell tower is 230 feet (70 m) high,making it the tallest university chapel in America. It is a contributing building in Notre Dame's historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The basilica is a major tourist attraction in Northern Indiana,and is visited annually by more than 100,000 tourists.
Alumni Hall is one of the 32 Residence Halls on the campus of the University of Notre Dame and one of the 16 male dorms. It is located on South Quad adjacent to "Main Circle",across from the law school building,and it hosts 234 undergraduates.

The Rev. James Aloysius Burns,C.S.C. was an American priest and President of the University of Notre Dame from 1919 to 1922. He played a significant role in transforming Notre Dame into a national research university. He was professor of chemistry at Notre Dame from 1895 to 1900. He was a theorist of education,and wrote numerous books on the topic.
The Rev. Andrew Morrissey,C.S.C. was an Irish-American priest and President of the University of Notre Dame from 1893 to 1905,after having served previously as director of studies. He was born in 1860 in Ireland,and left for America at the age of twelve. He studied in the United States and was professed with the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1880. He taught at Sacred Heart College,Watertown,Wisconsin,and was ordained priest in 1884. Morrissey Hall at the University of Notre Dame was dedicated in his honor.
