Charles Batcheller Neely Jr. (born December 11,1943) [1] is a former Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the State's 61st House district. [2] [3]
In 1994,Neely was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives. He was reelected in 1996 and 1998. He resigned from the State House on April 7,1999. [4] [5] He ran for Governor of North Carolina in 2000,but came third in the Republican primary. [6]
The governor of North Carolina is the head of government of the U.S. state of North Carolina. Seventy-five people have held the office since its inception in 1776. The governor serves a term of four years and chairs the collective body of the state's elected executive officials,the Council of State. The governor's powers and responsibilities are prescribed by the state constitution and by law.
