Charles Rabemananjara (born 9 June 1947 [1] )[ failed verification ][ citation needed ] was Prime Minister of Madagascar from 2007 to 2009. He took office on 20 January 2007 at the beginning of the second term of President Marc Ravalomanana. [2]
Rabemananjara was born in Antananarivo in 1947. During Marc Ravalomanana's first term as president,Rabemananjara became Director of the Military Cabinet of the Presidency in 2004 [3] and was then named Minister of the Interior and Administrative Reform on November 28,2005. [1] [4] After becoming Prime Minister,Rabemananjara remained Interior Minister in the new government,named on January 25,2007. [5]
Following the September 2007 parliamentary election,Ravalomanana appointed a new government,in which Rabemananjara remained in his posts as Prime Minister and Interior Minister,on October 27,2007. [6] He was additionally assigned the Decentralization portfolio in the 19-member government appointed on April 30,2008. [7] As Prime Minister,he was an ex officio member of the national political bureau of the ruling Tiako i Madagasikara (TIM) political party and therefore remained on the political bureau at TIM's May 2008 congress. Marc Ravalomanana is a Malagasy politician who served as the sixth President of Madagascar from 2002 to 2009. Born into a farming Merina family in Imerinkasinina,near the capital city of Antananarivo,Ravalomanana first rose to prominence as the founder and CEO of the vast dairy conglomerate TIKO,later launching successful wholesaler MAGRO and several additional companies.

The crisis reached its climax in the 2009 Malagasy coup d'état when Andry Rajoelina was declared the president of the High Transitional Authority of Madagascar on 21 March 2009,five days after Ravalomanana transferred his power to a military council and fled to South Africa.

In February 2009,he was appointed Mayor of Antananarivo by President Marc Ravalomanana to replace Andry Rajoelina,who was removed from the office after declaring himself the leader of Madagascar. Since 2014,he has served as a member of the National Assembly.
