Charles Uwagbai is a Nigerian Canadian [1] filmmaker. He hails from Edo state of the Southern part of Nigeria. [2] Charles Uwagbai is an media producer and director. He has experiences in media production, editing, directing, and animation. His works include TV/radio commercials, documentaries, reality shows and movies, among others. [3]

Early life

Charles Uwagbai is an Edo-born graduate of Engineering from Ekiti State University He enrolled at the New York Film Academy and trained under directors like Andy Amenechi and Alex Mouth. He started his career with motion graphics and animations but has since moved on to make some of Nollywood's cinema movies like Black Silhouette, Breathless, The Ghost and the Tout , Kondo Games. [4]

Career

Charles Uwagbai made his first movie titled 'Okoro, the Prince" in the year 2010. [2] The movie starred actors such as late Sam Loco, Alex Osifo and a host of many other. But before then, he has been involved in other projects and other films. [2] He started out in the music industry, and shot music videos, and TV commercials before he ventured into Nollywood. [2]

The Ghost and the Tout also known as Ghost and the Tout is a 2018 Nigerian ghost film, written and directed by Charles Uwagbai. The film stars Sambasa Nzeribe, Toyin Abraham, Rachael Okonkwo and Omowumi Dada in the lead roles. The film had its theatrical release in Nigeria on 11 May 2018 and received positive reviews from the critics.

Toka McBaror is a Nigerian filmmaker, producer, movie and music video director born, raised and is based in Kaduna, Kaduna State, Nigeria but originally from Delta State. He received an award nomination for "Kada River" at the 2018 Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival in Canada, 6 award wins for the movie, Lotanna including: "Best Film", "Best Director", "Best Cinematography", "Best Art Director", "Best Costume" and "Best Sound Editor" at the 2017 Golden Movie Awards.

The Ghost and the Tout Too is a 2021 film directed by Michael Akinrogunde and is a sequel to 2018 film "The Ghost and the Tout" directed by Charles Uwagbai. The film features Toyin Abraham who plays lead but stars alongside notable veteran actors including Patience Ozokwo, Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, Odunlade Adekola, Ini Edo, Ali Nuhu, Deyemi Okanlawon, Osas Ighodaro.
