Charmurti (The Four Heroes) is a Bengali comedy adventure film directed by Umanath Bhattacharya [1] based on a Tenida novel of the same name. [2] [3] This movie was released in 1978 in the banner of Mokshada Films. [4]

Plot

After the examination Tenida decides to spend the holidays with his friends Kyabla, Habul, and Palaram. Kyabla's uncle suggests them to go to his bungalow inside a dense forest area at Jhantipahari, a small village near Ramgarh. The place was considered to be haunted with unnatural incidents. The four go to Jhantipahar and face mystery created by few unknown persons. They decide to investigate and it is found that a group of criminal are running a business of counterfeiting fake notes near the haunted bungalow.

Bhajahari Mukhujjee, commonly known as Tenida or Teni, is a fictional native of Potoldanga in Calcutta, who appears in a number of short stories and larger works of the Bengali author Narayan Gangopadhyay. The leader of a group of four young lads who lived in the neighbourhood of Potoldanga, Tenida was depicted as the local big-mouthed airhead, who, although not blessed with academic capabilities, was admired and respected by the other three for his presence of mind, courage, and honesty as well as his vociferous appetite. Descriptions of Tenida's nose also make frequent appearances in the text, being described as "a large nose resembling Mount Mainak". The narrator of the stories is Pyalaram, who seemed to share his leader's frailty in academic exertions. The other two characters who formed an integral part of the quartet were Habul Sen, who speaks with strong East Bengali accent (Dhakai) and Kyabla, the cleverest among the four.

Monoranjan Bhattacharya, nicknamed Mona, is a retired Indian professional footballer and football manager. During his playing career, he represented the "Big Two" of Kolkata football, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. He also represented India in various international tournaments between 1978 and 1989.
