Chaudhry Farrukh Altaf is a Politician who has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since February 2024 and previously served in this position from August 2018 till August 2023.
Chaudhry Farrukh Altaf contested on Pakistan Peoples Party's ticket in the 1997 Pakistani general election from NA-45 Jhelum-I (which was renamed later to NA-66 (Jhelum-I)). He obtained 32,097 votes and lost to Pakistan Muslim League (N)'s candidate Raja Muhammad Afzal Khan. [2]
During Pervez Musharraf era in 2001, Chaudhry Farrukh Altaf was elected unopposed as District Nazim from District Jhelum on ticket of Pakistan Muslim League (Q). [3]
In 2008, he supported Chaudhry Shahbaz Hussain from NA-66 (Jhelum-I) in 2008 Pakistani general election.
In 2013 Pakistani general election he contested from NA-66 (Jhelum-I) on Pakistan Muslim League (Q)'s ticket but lost the seat to Chaudhry Khadim Hussain who obtained 102022 votes. Farrukh obtained 36878 votes and stood third in the poll. [4]
In 2016, Fawad Chaudhry cousin of Chaudhry Farrukh Altaf joined PTI, [5] he pursued party leadership to give ticket of NA-66 (Jhelum-I) to his cousin Chaudhry Farrukh Altaf.
He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan as a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from Constituency NA-66 (Jhelum-I) in 2018 Pakistani general election. [6] He received 112,356 votes and defeated Chaudhry Nadeem Khadim, a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (N). [7]
In April 2022, Farrukh Altaf crossed the floor and defected from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to join the opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement ending in successful No-confidence motion against Imran Khan. [8]
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi Warraich is a Pakistani politician who was the Chief Minister of Punjab from late 2002 to late 2007 and again from late 2022 to early 2023. He was a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from August 2018 till January 2023, when he, as chief minister, dissolved the assembly. In 2023, he left the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) along with his son, Moonis Elahi, and 10 other former PML(Q) MPAs over political rifts with the party president and cousin, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. He was appointed as, and is currently serving as the president of the PTI. He also served as the president of the Punjab Division of the PML(Q).
Omar Ayub Khan is a Pakistani politician who is currently serving as the Leader of the Opposition. He was the last Federal Minister for Economic Affairs under the Prime Ministership of Imran Khan from April 2021 until April 2022. He previously served as Federal Minister for Energy from 11 September 2018 to 16 April 2021. He had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from August 2018 till January 2023. He is the grandson of the former President of Pakistan, Field Marshal Ayub Khan and the son of Gohar Ayub Khan, who was also a politician. Previously, he served as a member of the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007 and again from 2014 to 2015. He also served as the Minister of State for Finance in the federal cabinet from 2004 to 2007. He has served as Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf since he assumed the role on 27 May 2023. He resigned from the position on 4 September 2024 and his resignation was accepted by Imran Khan on 7 September.

General elections were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, 25 July 2018 to elect the 51 members of 15th National Assembly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) obtained a landslide victory in the province by winning 37 general seats and increased their margin of victory from 2013. The PTI also won 8 out of 10 reserved seats while the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) won 1 reserved seat each.
By-elections were held on 8 National Assembly and 3 Punjab Assembly constituencies in Pakistan on 16 October 2022 and 1 National Assembly seat on 30 October 2022. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf got a landslide victory by winning 7 out of 9 National Assembly and 2 out of 3 Punjab Assembly seats whereas the Pakistan Democratic Movement, an alliance of 14 parties, was only able to win 2 National Assembly seats and 1 Punjab Assembly seat.
