Chelsey Tregear (also known as Chelsey Nash) is a former Australian netball player in the ANZ Championship, formerly playing for the Melbourne Vixens. [2] [3]

Career

Tregear is a versatile netballer capable of covering WA, C and GA. After co-captaining the Melbourne Kestrels in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She missed selection for the inaugural season of the ANZ Championship in 2008. She captained Victorian Fury to success in the Australian Netball League in 2008. It was this form that earned her, as Chelsey Nash, a callup to the Melbourne Vixens squad. [4]

Tregear made her ANZ Championship debut in round one of the 2009 season. At the end of the 2009 season, she was awarded "Rookie of the Year" by the Vixens and was chosen for the Australia national netball team, known as the Diamonds. However she was dropped from the 2010/11 Squad.

Tregear is a qualified Podiatrist with the Moorabin Foot Centre, [5] although she has changed to playing netball under her husband's surname for the 2011 ANZ Championship Season.

Bianca Lee Chatfield is a former Australian netball player. She played in the positions of GK, and GD. In 2001, she was selected for the Australian team as an 18-year-old, one of the youngest ever netballers to play for her country. She is a Commonwealth Games Gold and Silver Medalist, World Champion and played over 240 games for the Melbourne Phoenix and Melbourne Vixens, captaining the latter for several years and winning six premierships - four with the Phoenix and two with the Vixens.

Catherine Anne Cox is an Australian netball player. Cox has played regularly for the Australian national team since her first appearance in 1997 and is one of only four players with more than 100 test matches. With Australia she won two World Championships and one Commonwealth Games. On club level she was active for the Australian Institute of Sport and Perth Orioles. She had afterwards her most successful time playing for the Sydney Swifts, winning the Australian championships of 2004, 2006, and 2007. In 2008 she captained the Sydney Swift's successor team NSW Swifts when it won the inaugural Trans-Tasman championship. In 2012 and 2014 she joined West Coast Fever and Melbourne Vixens, respectively.

Julie Corletto is an Australian international netball player. She played for the Australian Diamonds and NSW Swifts but has now retired. She usually played in the positions of goal defence and wing defence. Corletto is the younger sister of former AFL footballer Ian Prendergast.

Melbourne Vixens

Melbourne Vixens is an Australian netball team, based in Melbourne, that compete in the Suncorp Super Netball league. Operated by Netball Victoria, the Vixens previously played in the trans-Tasman ANZ Championship. The team was formed in 2007 as an amalgamation of the Melbourne Phoenix and Melbourne Kestrels from the previous Commonwealth Bank Trophy. Kate Moloney and Liz Watson are the current co-captains of the team, with Emily Mannix the vice captain under head coach Simone McKinnis. Home games are played at Melbourne Arena and Margaret Court Arena, while the team trains at the State Netball and Hockey Centre.

Madison “Madi” Browne is an Australian netball player, currently playing in the British Netball Superleague for Leeds Rhinos Netball.

Caitlin Thwaites is an Australian netball player and volleyballer.

Wendy Jones is an Australian netball player. Jacobsen was captain of the Victorian Under 19 team in 1996–97 and the Under 21 team from 1997–99, she represented Victoria from 1990 as an 11-year-old until 2011. She was a scholarship holder at the Australian Institute of Sport in 1997 and 1998. Also a member of the Australian national team from 2005–08. She played in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy with the Melbourne Phoenix from 1998–2007, winning premierships in 2000, 2002–03 and 2005.

Carla Dziwoki is an Australian netball player. Dziwoki played with the Queensland Firebirds in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She played for Team Northumbria in the 2008–09 Netball Superleague for the. She also played for Leeds Carnegie during the 2009–10 Netball Superleague season. Dziwoki rejoined the Queensland Firebirds for the 2009 ANZ Championship season after Megan Dehn withdrew from the side.

Brooke Thompson is a former Australian netball player. She was a member of the Melbourne Vixens team that won the 2009 ANZ Championship. She was also a member of the Victorian Fury teams that won the 2008 and 2009 Australian Netball League titles. During the Commonwealth Bank Trophy era, Thompson played for AIS Canberra Darters and Melbourne Kestrels.

2009 ANZ Championship season Sports season

The 2009 ANZ Championship season was the second season of the ANZ Championship. The 2009 season began on 4 April and concluded on 26 July. Melbourne Vixens were minor premiers. With a team co-captained by Bianca Chatfield and Sharelle McMahon, Vixens subsequently defeated Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic 58–43 in the major semi-final and Adelaide Thunderbirds 54–46 in the grand final to finish as overall premiers. The grand final was played on Sunday 26 July at Hisense Arena.

Sarah Wall is an Australian netball player. She currently plays for Giants Netball in the Suncorp Super Netball competition, as an injury replacement player. She has previously played for the New South Wales Swifts. In 2005 she played her first year of elite netball, for the Melbourne Phoenix in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She played three years with the Phoenix until the competition was disbanded in 2007. She was not signed with a team in the new ANZ Championship in its inaugural season the following year. But in 2009 she received a callup to the Melbourne Vixens. In 2010 Wall transferred to the Queensland Firebirds, but towards the end of the 2010 season she injured her CL. In August that year she signed back with the Vixens on a two-year contract starting in 2011.

Amy Steel is an Australian netball player currently playing for the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the ANZ Championship. She has also previously played for the Melbourne Kestrels and the Queensland Firebirds. Steel debuted with the Melbourne Vixens in Round 9 of the 2009 ANZ Championship season as a replacement for injured goal keeper Bianca Chatfield. Steel was also selected in the Australian U21 squad for the 2009 World Youth Netball Championships in the Cook Islands. She also competed in the 2010 and 2011 World Netball Series tournaments, both held at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, UK.

Tegan Alyce Philip is a retired Australian Netball player, who for her entire professional career played for the Melbourne Vixens in the ANZ Championship and Suncorp Super Netball competitions.

Karyn Bailey is an Australian netball player who played for the Melbourne Vixens, Adelaide Thunderbirds. and plays for the Surrey Storm (UK) since 2018.

The 2012 Melbourne Vixens season saw Melbourne Vixens compete in the 2012 ANZ Championship. With a team captained by Bianca Chatfield and featuring Madison Browne, Julie Corletto and Geva Mentor, Vixens finished the season as minor premiers. In the major semi-final they defeated Northern Mystics 56–50. This was the first ever netball match held at Rod Laver Arena. However they lost the grand final 41–38 to Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and finished the season as runners-up. After five years as head coach of Vixens, Julie Hoornweg announced her retirement at the end of the 2012 season.

The 2013 Adelaide Thunderbirds season saw Adelaide Thunderbirds compete in the 2013 ANZ Championship. With a team captained by Natalie von Bertouch and featuring Erin Bell, Carla Borrego, Renae Hallinan, Rebecca Bulley and Sharni Layton, Adelaide Thunderbirds won both the minor premiership and the overall championship. Having previously won the 2010 ANZ Championship, Thunderbirds became the first team to win a second championship. Thunderbirds secured the minor premiership with a 64–48 win over Northern Mystics in Round 13. They subsequently defeated Melbourne Vixens 49–39 in the major semi-final and Queensland Firebirds 50–48 in the grand final to win the championship.

The 2014 Melbourne Vixens season saw Melbourne Vixens compete in the 2014 ANZ Championship. With a team coached by Simone McKinnis, captained by Bianca Chatfield and also featuring Tegan Caldwell, Geva Mentor, Madison Robinson and Catherine Cox, Melbourne Vixens won both the minor premiership and the overall championship. Vixens defeated Queensland Firebirds in both the major semi-final and the grand final as they won their second premiership. They won their first in 2009.
