Bianca Chatfield (born 2 April 1982) is a former Australia netball international. Between 2001 and 2014 she made 59 senior appearances for Australia. Chatfield was a member of the Australia teams that won the gold medals at the 2007 World Netball Championships and the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the silver medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Between 1998 and 2007, Chatfield played for Melbourne Phoenix in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league and between 2008 and 2015, she played for Melbourne Vixens in the ANZ Championship. During a thirteen year playing career she played in six premiership winning teams – four with Phoenix and two with Vixens. She captained Vixens for eight seasons, including when they won the 2009 and 2014 ANZ Championships.
Since retiring as a netball player, Chatfield has worked in various media and television roles, including as a Suncorp Super Netball commentator for Channel Nine. In 2018, together with Carla Dziwoki, she was a contestant on the home renovation show, The Block .
Chatfield is originally from Somerville on Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. She has two sisters and her father works as a builder on the Peninsula. [2] [3] Between 2000 and 2003, Chatfield attended Deakin University where she gained a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) and a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Physical Education and Biology. Between 1998 and 2007, Chatfield made 133 appearances for Melbourne Phoenix in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. She made her debut with Phoenix aged 16. She subsequently helped Phoenix win premierships in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005. [1] [6] [7] [8] [9]
Between 2008 and 2015, Chatfield made 111 appearances for Melbourne Vixens in the ANZ Championship. She captained Vixens for eight seasons. Between 2008 and 2011, she shared the captaincy with Sharelle McMahon before taking over individually for the first time in 2012. Chatfield captained Vixens to premierships in 2009 and 2014. [7] [8] [10] [11] [12] In 2009, Chatfield and McMahon co-captained Vixens as they won 12 of their 13 matches during the regular season and finished as minor premiers. Vixens subsequently defeated Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic 58–43 in the major semi-final and Adelaide Thunderbirds 54–46 in the grand final to finish as overall champions. [13] In 2011, Chatfield was named as the Vixens' Most Valuable Player. [6] [14] In 2012, Chatfield captained Vixens when they finished the season as minor premiers. In the major semi-final they defeated Northern Mystics 56–50. However they lost the grand final 41–38 to Magic and finished the season as runners-up. [15] In 2014, Chatfield captained Vixens as they won both the minor premiership and the overall championship. [16] [17] [18] [19] In 2015 Chatfield made her 100th ANZ Championship appearance in a Round 2 match against Thunderbirds. [20] She was the first Vixens player to make 100 appearances. Between 2001 and 2014 Chatfield made 59 senior appearances for Australia. On 28 March 2001, aged 18, she made her senior debut for Australia in an away match against England. She had previously represented Australia at under-17 and under-21 levels. She was subsequently a member of the Australia teams that won the gold medals at the 2007 World Netball Championships and the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the silver medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Between April 2006 and December 2008 Chatfield worked as a secondary school teacher at Presbyterian Ladies' College, teaching physical education, health and science. Between January 2008 and December 2010, Chatfield worked as a community education co-ordinator with Essendon Football Club. [4] Since January 2015, Chatfield has been head coach at the Victoria University Junior Netball Academy. [4] [33] [34]

Aged 25, Chatfield purchased an apartment in Kew. She sold this apartment in December 2019. [42] Since 2019, Chatfield has been in a relationship with Mark Scrivens, a 2019 contestant in the Australian version of Married at First Sight. They met after exchanging messages on Instagram. In July 2021, Chatfield purchased a Bayside townhouse for herself and Scrivens to live in. [43] [44] [45] [46]
The Commonwealth Bank Trophy, also referred to as the National Netball League, was the top level national Australian netball league between 1997 and 2007. The league was organized by Netball Australia. Its main sponsor was the Commonwealth Bank. Melbourne Phoenix were the competition's most successful team, winning five premierships. Sydney Swifts were the second most successful team, winning four premierships. Between them, Phoenix and Swifts played in every grand final, except in 1999 when Adelaide Thunderbirds won the second of their two premierships. Ahead of the 2008 season, the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league effectively merged with New Zealand's National Bank Cup to form the ANZ Championship.
Melbourne Kestrels were an Australian netball team that represented Netball Victoria in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. Between 1997 and 2007, together with Melbourne Phoenix, they were one of two teams to represent Netball Victoria in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy era. In 2008, when the Commonwealth Bank Trophy was replaced by the ANZ Championship, Kestrels and Phoenix merged to form Melbourne Vixens.

Catherine Anne Cox is a former Australian netball international and current netball commentator and podcaster. Between 1997 and 2013, she made 108 senior appearances for Australia. She was a prominent member of the Australia teams that won gold medals at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and the 2007 and 2011 World Netball Championships. She was also a member of the Australia teams that won silver medals at the 2003 World Netball Championships and the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games. Cox captained Australia on seven occasions, including when they won the 2011 Constellation Cup.
The ANZ Championship, also known as the Trans-Tasman Netball League, is a former netball league featuring teams from both Australia and New Zealand. Between 2008 and 2016, it was the top-level league in both countries. The competition was owned and administered by Trans-Tasman Netball League Ltd (TTNL), a joint venture between Netball Australia and Netball New Zealand. It was effectively a merger of Australia's Commonwealth Bank Trophy and New Zealand's National Bank Cup. Its main sponsor was the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group.
Melbourne Vixens is an Australian professional netball team based in Melbourne, Victoria. Since 2017 they have represented Netball Victoria in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. The team was formed in 2007 when Netball Victoria merged its two former Commonwealth Bank Trophy league teams, Melbourne Phoenix and Melbourne Kestrels. Vixens have won three premierships, in 2009, 2014 and 2020.
Carla Dziwoki is a former Australian netball player. Dziwoki played with the Queensland Firebirds in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She played for Team Northumbria in the 2008–09 Netball Superleague for the. She also played for Leeds Carnegie during the 2009–10 Netball Superleague season. Dziwoki rejoined the Queensland Firebirds for the 2009 ANZ Championship season after Megan Dehn withdrew from the side.
Brooke Thompson is a former Australian netball player. She was a member of the Melbourne Vixens team that won the 2009 ANZ Championship. She was also a member of the Victorian Fury teams that won the 2008 and 2009 Australian Netball League titles. During the Commonwealth Bank Trophy era, Thompson played for AIS Canberra Darters and Melbourne Kestrels.

With a team co-captained by Bianca Chatfield and Sharelle McMahon, Vixens subsequently defeated Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic 58–43 in the major semi-final and Adelaide Thunderbirds 54–46 in the grand final to finish as overall premiers. The grand final was played on Sunday 26 July at Hisense Arena.
The 2011 ANZ Championship season was the fourth season of the ANZ Championship. The 2011 season began on 13 February and concluded on 22 May. With a team coached by Roselee Jencke, captained by Lauren Nourse and featuring Romelda Aiken, Laura Geitz, Clare McMeniman and Natalie Medhurst, Queensland Firebirds finished the season undefeated. They became the first team in the history of the ANZ Championship to go through the regular season and the playoffs without losing a single match. In the major semi-final, Firebirds defeated Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and in the grand final they defeated Northern Mystics, winning their first premiership. This marked the beginning of a golden age for Firebirds. Between 2011 and 2016, Jencke guided them to five grand finals and three premierships.

With a team captained by Bianca Chatfield and featuring Madison Browne, Julie Corletto and Geva Mentor, Vixens finished the season as minor premiers. In the major semi-final they defeated Northern Mystics 56–50. This was the first ever netball match held at Rod Laver Arena. However they lost the grand final 41–38 to Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and finished the season as runners-up. After five years as head coach of Vixens, Julie Hoornweg announced her retirement at the end of the 2012 season.
Simone McKinnis is a former Australia netball international and the current head coach of Melbourne Vixens in Suncorp Super Netball. As a player she was a member of the Australia teams that won gold medals at the 1991 and 1995 World Netball Championships, the 1993 World Games and the 1998 Commonwealth Games. She also captained the Melbourne Phoenix team that won the 1997 Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She was head coach when Vixens won the 2014 ANZ Championship and the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball titles. In 1992, McKinnis was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia and in 2010 was inducted into the Australian Netball Hall of Fame.

Vixens defeated Queensland Firebirds in both the major semi-final and the grand final as they won their second premiership. They won their first in 2009.
Elizabeth Watson, commonly known as Liz Watson, is an Australia netball international. Watson was a member of the Australia teams that won the silver medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and at the 2019 Netball World Cup. In 2018 and 2022 she received the Liz Ellis Diamond award. She captained Australia during the 2021 Constellation Cup. Since 2014, Watson has played for Melbourne Vixens, initially in the ANZ Championship and later in Suncorp Super Netball. She was a member of the Vixens' teams that won premierships in 2014 and 2020.

The 2013 Adelaide Thunderbirds season saw Adelaide Thunderbirds compete in the 2013 ANZ Championship. With a team captained by Natalie von Bertouch and featuring Erin Bell, Carla Borrego, Renae Hallinan, Rebecca Bulley and Sharni Layton, Adelaide Thunderbirds won both the minor premiership and the overall championship. Having previously won the 2010 ANZ Championship, Thunderbirds became the first team to win a second championship. Thunderbirds secured the minor premiership with a 64–48 win over Northern Mystics in Round 13. They subsequently defeated Melbourne Vixens 49–39 in the major semi-final and Queensland Firebirds 50–48 in the grand final to win the championship.
