Kericho is the biggest town in Kericho County, located in the highlands west of the Kenyan Rift Valley. Positioned on the edge of the Mau Forest, Kericho benefits from a warm and temperate climate, making it good for agriculture, especially large scale tea cultivation.

Kikuyu is a town in Kiambu County, Kenya, which grew from a settlement of colonial missionaries. The town is located about 20 km (12 mi) northwest of central Nairobi. It is about 20 minutes from Nairobi via a number of routes, including a dual carriage road,the Southern Bypass and has a railway station on the Mombasa – Malaba Railway Line. The town is named after the Kikuyu/Gĩkũyũ people, the major ethnicity that settled in the area. As of 2019, the total population was 323,881.

Local elections were held in Kericho County to elect a Governor and County Assembly on 4 March 2013. Under the new constitution, which was passed in a 2010 referendum, the 2013 general elections were the first in which Governors and members of the County Assemblies for the newly created counties were elected.

He also served as an Assistant Minister for Culture and Social Services in Daniel Moi's Regime. He further served as Chairman of the Kenya Sugar Board from 27 March 2012 for a period of 3 years.
Alfred Kiprato arap Kerich was the first Member of Parliament for Belgut Constituency in Kericho County, Kenya. He served for two terms as a member of the National Assembly between 1963 and 1969 and 1974–1979. He hailed from Kaptebeswet Area in Kericho County.
Wesley Kimngeno arap Rono was the Second Member of Parliament for Belgut Constituency in Kericho County in 1969. Before he joined politics he served as the Principal for Cheptenye Boys in Kericho County. He held a BSc from the University of Nairobi.
