The Cherkasy Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine , commonly referred to as the Cherkasy CPU obkom, was the position of highest authority in the Cherkasy Oblast, in the Ukrainian SSR of the Soviet Union.
The First Secretary was a de facto appointed position usually by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine or the First Secretary of the Republic.

Kirovohrad Oblast, also known as Kirovohradshchyna, is an oblast (region) in central Ukraine. The administrative center of the oblast is the city of Kropyvnytskyi. Its population is 903,712. It is Ukraine's second least populated oblast, behind Chernivtsi.
City Sports Club Dnipro Cherkasy is a Ukrainian football team based in Cherkasy. Over its history the club has been dissolved and revived several times. The original club that existed 1955-1974 was dissolved following a financial scandal. After that the club again was dissolved and revived couple of more times.
Ivan Yulianovych Kulyk was a Ukrainian poet, writer, translator, diplomat and Communist Party activist. He also wrote under the names "R. Rolinato" and "Vasyl Rolenko".
Oleksandr Pavlovych Liashko was a Soviet Ukrainian politician. He was the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR for more than 15 years, making him the longest-serving person in that capacity. He also served in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1961 to 1989. In 1985 Liashko received the honorary award, the Hero of Socialist Labour.

Kostiantyn Pylypovych Yastrub was a Ukrainian politician. A member of the Communist Party, he served as Chairman of the Cherkasy Oblast Council from 1991 to 1992. He died on 20 January 2022, at the age of 86.
Serhiy Rafailovych Hrynevetsky is a Ukrainian politician who served as the Governor of Odesa Oblast, first from 1998 to 2005, and again from 27 November 2020 to 1 March 2022 following his appointment by President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky dismissed him on the seventh day of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
