Chethan Ramarao was an Indian actor of Kannada, Tamil and Telugu films. [1]

Life

Ramarao was born in 1937 at Sindhaghatta in KR Pete taluk in Mandya district of Karnataka. He became interested in theatre when he was young and later joined Gubbi Veeranna's theatre company. He later entered film industry at the age of 19 and acted in more than 350 films in his five decades long career, mostly in supportive roles. [2] [3] Kala Vilasi Sangha was his debut film. His notable films are Post Master , Nanu Neenu Jodi, Anuradha , Kallu Sakkare and Bedi Bandavalu . [1]

He died on 23 December 2016 in Mysuru, Karnataka [2] [4] following kidney ailment. [3]

Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film Sati Sulochana directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded South India Movietone in Bengaluru.

Vishnuvardhan, born Sampath Kumar, was an Indian film actor predominantly in Kannada cinema. He appeared in more than 220 films all together in Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. He was called The Phoenix of Indian Cinema. He made his debut in the 1972 film, Vamsha Vriksha, in a supporting role. The same year he played the lead role in Puttanna Kanagal's Naagarahaavu, and was recognized as 'The Angry Young Man of Kannada Cinema'. He has played a variety of roles in different genres.

Bhajarangi is a 2013 Indian Kannada-language fantasy action film starring Shiva Rajkumar and Aindrita Ray in the lead roles. Directed by choreographer-turned-director Harsha, the film was released on 12 December 2013 and received positive response from critics. Bhajarangi collected a total of 35.5 crores in its 25-day run and became the second highest-grossing Kannada film of 2013. The film was declared a blockbuster at the box office.

Jai Karnataka is a 1989 Indian Kannada-language superhero film, directed and produced by Dwarakish. The film stars Ambarish, Rajani, Jr Narasimharaju and Mukhyamantri Chandru in the lead roles. The film has musical score by Vijayanand. The film was a remake of the Hindi film Mr. India.

<i>U Turn</i> (2016 film)

U Turn is a 2016 Indian Kannada-language supernatural thriller film written, produced and directed by Pawan Kumar. It stars Shraddha Srinath in the lead role. Roger Narayan, Dileep Raj and Radhika Chetan feature in supporting roles. The plot revolves around the death of motorists who break a traffic rule at a particular flyover in Bangalore and subsequent pinning down of the culprit by an intern journalist and police inspector duo.

After having found success in television and as a supporting actor, he made his film debut as a lead with Boy Friend in 2005.
