Chickland is a village in the foothills of Central Trinidad, north of the world-renowned cocoa growing region Gran Couva and south-east of one of the earliest settlement areas for freed slaves Freeport. One of the featured sites in Chickland was the Ajoupa Pottery, which produced intricate and colourful ceramic pieces, such as tables and vanity vases that appear in hotels and villas throughout Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean. Other nearby attractions include the Temple in the Sea and Hanuman, the tallest statue of a Hindu deity outside of India, which is located in Waterloo. One of the oldest structures in Chickland is the Chickland RC Primary School, which is still operational. On Saturday evenings, it is quickly converted into a church, with evening mass for the congregation.
The population in Chickland is multi-cultural and very diverse. Every major festival and holiday is celebrated.
Farming and gardening is still an integral part of the village life in Chickland. The hills are cultivated with corns, vegetables and fruits trees. There a very little evidence of old life of harvesting sugar-cane, cocoa, coffee and tobacco. Goats and cows can be seen roaming freely.
The Asa Wright Nature Centre and Lodge is a nature resort and scientific research station in the Arima Valley of the Northern Range in Trinidad and Tobago. The centre is one of the top birdwatching spots in the Caribbean; a total of 256 species of birds have been recorded there. The centre is owned by a non-profit trust.
Piparo is a village in Central Trinidad on the southern edge of the Central Range. The village has three main claims to fame:
Piparo was the base of operations of Dole Chadee, a notorious drug lord who was executed in 1999 for the murder of four members of the Baboolal family.
Piparo was the home of Ras Shorty I during his self-imposed break from the soca world. Living simply in this rural community Ras Shorty-I developed jamoo, a fusion of soca and gospel music.
Piparo was the site of a large mud volcano eruption on February 22, 1997. The eruption covered an area of 2.5 km² and displaced 31 families. The mud volcano now lies active where the eruption took place.
The Nariva Swamp is the largest freshwater wetland in Trinidad and Tobago and has been designated a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention. The swamp is located on the east coast of Trinidad, immediately inland from the Manzanilla Bay through Biche and covers over 60 square kilometres (23 mi2). The Nariva Swamp is extremely biodiverse. It is home to 45 mammal species, 39 reptile species, 33 fish species, 204 bird species, 19 frog species, 213 insect species and 15 mollusc species. All this contained in just 60 square kilometers.
Tunapuna is a town in the East–West Corridor of the island of Trinidad, in Trinidad and Tobago.
Tabaquite is a town in central Trinidad, north of Rio Claro and west of the Navet Dam.
Gasparillo is a settlement in southern Trinidad. It lies east of Pointe-à-Pierre and northeast of San Fernando. The population is 16,426. The name Gasparillo is applied not only to Gasparillo area, but also the surrounding communities including Bonne Aventure, Reform and Whiteland. Trinidadians do not use Spanish sounds when saying Gasparillo. Correct local pronunciation is "gas-PARR-ri-low." Gasparillo is administrated by Couva–Tabaquite–Talparo Regional Corporation and Princes Town Regional Corporation.
Grande Riviere is a village on the north coast of Trinidad located between Toco and Matelot. The area was originally settled by immigrants from Venezuela and Tobago who cultivated cacao and subsistence crops. After falling cocoa prices in the 1920s and expanding pest problems caused the collapse of the cocoa industry, Grande Riviere went into a decline which continued until the development of ecotourism. Between 1931 and 2000 the population of Grande Riviere fell from 718 to 334.
Rio Claro is the largest town in southeastern Trinidad, in Trinidad and Tobago. Rio Claro lies east of Princes Town, west of Mayaro and northwest of Guayaguayare. It serves as the major commercial centre for southeastern Trinidad. It lies in a primarily agricultural area. It is the seat of the Region of Mayaro–Rio Claro.

The Central Range is a mountain range on the island of Trinidad. It extends diagonally across the island and is a low-lying range rising from swampy areas into rolling hills. The tallest hills in the range are Mount Tamana, Mount Harris and Brigand Hill; all located in the northeastern portion of the range. The Central Range mountains are biodiverse, and are home to the Tamana Caves - the site of Trinidad's largest bat roost. Howler monkeys can be found here and numerous species of birds as well.
Hampstead is a village in northeastern Dominica. Along with Bense, the area has a population of 495, and was used as a filming location for 2006's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
Lopinot is a village in Trinidad and Tobago.
Valsayn is a town in Trinidad and Tobago. It is located along the East–West Corridor in northern Trinidad between the Eastern Main Road, Uriah Butler Highway, Churchill–Roosevelt Highway and Curepe. Valsayn consists of a small number of luxury residential communities divided between Valsayn-North and Valsayn-South, as well as settlements on the outskirts on the southern side of the highway, such as Bamboo Settlement on the West and Spring Village on the East. It is one of the most expensive residential areas on the island. Among its inhabitants are political figures, businessmen and foreign investors. The Valpark Shopping Plaza is one of the oldest shopping malls in Trinidad and Tobago.
Toco is the most northeasterly village on the island of Trinidad in Trinidad and Tobago. The island of Tobago is 35 kilometres (22 mi) to the northeast, making Toco the closest point in Trinidad to the sister island. The name Toco was ascribed to the area by its early Amerindian inhabitants. The meaning of the name is uncertain.
The Ortoire River is a river in Trinidad and Tobago. It forms the boundary between Nariva County and Mayaro County in east Trinidad.
Carapichaima is a town in central Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago. Communities and villages in Carapichaima include Orangefield, Waterloo, Brickfield, and Korea Village.
Iere Village is a small village in southern Trinidad, north west of Princes Town. Though small in size, the village is rich in history. It is the site of the first Presbyterian church, the first Islamic mosque and the first government funded school in Trinidad. The village is located on the Naparima Mayaro Road just outside Princes Town. The village's primary school, Iere Government Primary, has been rebuilt and located further up the road from its original location on Richmond.
Matelot is a settlement in Trinidad and Tobago. Located on the north coast of Trinidad in the Sangre Grande region, the village has traditionally been seen as one of the most remote places on the island.
Bonne Aventure is a village in the county of Victoria, Trinidad. It is considered to be part of the larger town of Gasparillo.
