Chilca is a Peruvian city located in the Lima Region. It is the capital of the Chilca District.
It is located in the "old village of Chilca", dating from 7000 BC. This place is an old fishing village that has a wide beach and a Catholic church cemetery. This land is known for its abundant production of figs and pomegranates, as well as for lakes that locals say have healing properties, particularly for dermatological and bone ailments, hypertension problems and infertility.
The French explorer Jean-François-Marie de Surville was buried in Chilca after drowning off the coast in 1770.
The primary lake in Chilca is called La Milagrosa or Qoricocha (gold pond in Quechua). Its accumulated water table or underground waters are highly mineralized, containing sodium chloride, sulfate, calcium carbonate which are said to be helpful for chronic articular rheumatism. The black mud is said to protect and revitalize the skin.
La Milagrosa is a lagoon of about 200 meters long and 50 meters wide. It is surrounded by numerous, not very deep, pools where visitors smear themselves with mud for a full body cast. There are several types of clay.
People tell how are the virtues of the waters and mud of these baths. Many of these come regularly for years and that people say that they have been definitely cured of diseases when they arrived to Lima or another place, feeling improvements in their health, just a week after starting treatment. Enrique Rueda, who was twice mayor of the district, tells about the people who visit the lakes and say that not only they're happy, but eternally grateful and cured.[ citation needed ]
In February, the locals celebrate the Fig festival. Many surfers come to the city to surf at the big waves in Chilca's beaches. On August 15 there is the procession of Our Lady of Assumption of Mary. It's a festival where people gather to have fun in Chilca and venerate the Virgin.

With the Spanish American Wars of Independence (1810–25), the Aymaras became subjects of the new nations of Bolivia and Peru. Rose of Lima was a member of the Third Order of Saint Dominic in Lima, Peru, who became known for both her life of severe asceticism and her care of the needy of the city through her own private efforts. A lay member of the Dominican Order, she was declared a saint by the Catholic Church, being the first person born in the Americas to be canonized as such.
Lake Okeechobee, also known as Florida's Inland Sea, is the largest freshwater lake in the state of Florida. It is the eighth largest natural freshwater lake among the 50 states of the United States and the second largest natural freshwater lake contained entirely within the contiguous 48 states.
Huacho is a city in Peru, capital of the Huaura Province and capital of the Lima Region. Also is the most populated city of the Lima Region and Norte Chico. It is located 223 feet above sea level and 148 km north of the city of Lima. The city is located on the Pan-American Highway and it is close to the Lachay National Reserve, so it has extensive vegetation and wildlife.
Huacachina is a village built around a small oasis and surrounded by sand dunes in southwestern Peru. It is about five kilometers from the city of Ica in the Ica District of Ica Province. The oasis was introduced as a feature on the back of the 50 nuevo sol note in 1991. Huacachina has a permanent population of around 100 people, although it hosts many tens of thousands of tourists each year.
La Punta is a district of the Constitutional Province of Callao in Peru, and one of the seven districts that make up the port city of Callao. It is located in a peninsula in the western part of the province and is almost entirely surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, except on its northeastern side, where it is bordered by downtown Callao.
Mismi is a 5,597-metre (18,363 ft) mountain peak of volcanic origin in the Chila mountain range in the Andes of Peru. A glacial stream on the Mismi was firmly identified as the most distant source of the Amazon River in 1996; this finding was confirmed in 2001 and again in 2007. This claim has been challenged with three locations for the source of the Amazon identified, depending upon the definition of "source." The waters from Mismi flow into the streams Carhuasanta and Apachita, which flow into the Apurímac River. It is a tributary of the Ucayali which later joins the Marañón to form the Amazon proper.
Miraflores is a district of the Lima Province in Peru. It is an exclusive residential and upscale shopping district south of downtown Lima. It is also one of the most affluent districts that make up the city of Lima. It has various hotels, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and department stores. Miraflores is one of the main tourist attractions in Lima.
San Luis is a district of the Lima Province in Peru.
Villa María del Triunfo is a district of the Lima Province in Peru. It is located in the Cono Sur area of the city of Lima. It was officially established as a district on December 28, 1961. The current mayor (alcalde) of Villa María del Triunfo is Eloy Chávez Hernández.
The Asia District is one of 16 that make up the Peru province of Cañete. Founded by Beinto Chumpitaz Chavez on July 24, 1964, it was originally part of the Coayllo District.

The Milk of Sorrow is a 2009 film by Peruvian director Claudia Llosa and co-produced by Peru and Spain. The film stars Magaly Solier and addresses the fears of abused women during Peru's recent history. It won the 2009 Golden Bear award and FIPRESCI prize at the Berlin International Film Festival, as well as the award for best film in the 24 Festival Internacional de Cine de Guadalajara in Mexico. It was nominated for the 82nd Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, becoming the first Peruvian film to be nominated for the award.
Gonzalo Rodríguez Risco is a Peruvian playwright and screenwriter. He is a graduate of Yale School of Drama, M.F.A. in Playwriting in 2009.
Mud is a 2012 American coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Jeff Nichols. The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Tye Sheridan, Jacob Lofland, Sam Shepard, and Reese Witherspoon. Sheridan and Lofland portray a pair of teenagers who encounter the eponymous Mud (McConaughey), a fugitive hiding on a small island, and agree to help him evade his pursuers.
