China Live is a Chinese marketplace (food hall) in San Francisco, California, described as being of "epic proportions" [1] that comprise various casual and fine dining restaurants, bars and food and beverage outlets. China Live was founded by George and Cindy Chen. George Chen is an entrepreneur, formerly involved in several local landmark restaurants such as Betelnut, Xanadu, and Shanghai 1930, as an effort to "educate" San Francisco on "what real Chinese cuisine is". China Live was inspired by, and has been compared to, Eataly, a chain of similar establishments based on Italian food. [1]
A branch in Seattle's Denny Triangle neighborhood on the Amazon headquarters campus was announced in February 2020. China Live later delayed the food hall's opening to 2022 and ultimately cancelled its lease due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [2]

Sam Wo is a Chinese restaurant located in San Francisco, California. The restaurant's first location on 813 Washington Street was famous for being a venerable mainstay in the local Chinatown area, having been in the same location since 1912. Sam Wo gained notoriety in the 1960’s for being the employer of Edsel Ford Fung, who was known locally as the "world's rudest waiter". The restaurant was closed in 2012 due to safety concerns, and reopened in 2015 on nearby Clay Street.

Johnny Kan (1906–1972) was a Chinese American restaurateur in Chinatown, San Francisco, ca 1950–1970. He was the owner of Johnny Kan's restaurant, which opened in 1953, and published a book on Cantonese cuisine, Eight Immortal Flavors, which was praised by Craig Claiborne and James Beard. Kan and Cecilia Chiang are credited with popularizing authentic Chinese cuisine as a fine dining option, displacing the stereotypical chop suey American Chinese cuisine prevalent in the 1950s and 60s.
Pollen Street Social is a restaurant in London, England, run by chef Jason Atherton. It was Atherton's first UK solo restaurant, and in 2011 was named the best new UK restaurant by the Good Food Guide, and the best new fine-dining restaurant in London by Time Out. It currently holds one Michelin star, which it gained within a year of opening. Elements in the restaurant such as the dessert bar have been subsequently included in Atherton's other restaurants. On 22 March 2024, Atherton announced on Instagram that the restaurant would be closing permanently on 31 July 2024.
