Early life and education

Chioma Rowland was born on May 1, 1995, in Owerri, the capital city of Imo State in southeastern Nigeria. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Rowland, a devout Seventh-day Adventist family. Her father is a wealthy businessman who owns a chain of restaurants and nightclubs across Nigeria and has also invested substantially in the country's real estate and oil and gas industries. Rowland has two sisters, Jennifer, a fashion designer, and Ifunanya. [1]

Rowland had her early education in Owerri, attending public primary and secondary schools in the city. After completing her secondary education, she gained admission to Babcock University, a private university owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, where she studied economics. [1]

Career

Modeling

Inspired by her physical appearance and a desire to showcase her beauty, Rowland aspired to pursue a career in modeling from a young age. Growing up in Owerri, she began auditioning for modeling jobs and was frequently selected for various gigs, helping to open doors for her in the industry. Despite facing prejudices as a young aspiring model, her parents nurtured her to be resilient and successful, encouraging her to follow her dreams.

Rowland's modeling career has been marked by collaborations with several Nigerian brands, including Gino, Royal Hair Ltd., Crepaway, and Payporte, for which she has secured endorsement deals. Through these campaigns, she has showcased her sense of style and modeling skills, leveraging her influence to secure endorsements and expand her business ventures. Rowland's work as a model has not only elevated her status in the industry but has also impacted her other ventures, demonstrating her ability to leverage her modeling career to enhance her presence in media and business.

Cooking and Media Influencing

As a chef, Rowland specializes in Nigerian cuisine, showcasing her culinary skills through traditional Nigerian dishes and flavors. In 2018, she launched her cooking show, "The Chef Chi Show", signing a deal with Dunes Center to air it. The first episodes of the show were released on YouTube in October 2020. [2]

Rowland's cooking endeavors extend beyond her show, as she has also secured endorsement deals for cooking shows and operates a catering business, where she shares her meals on social media platforms. With millions of followers on Instagram, Rowland has developed a significant presence online and across social media platforms as an influencer in the food and lifestyle space.

Personal life

Rowland met her husband, Davido, whose real name is David Adedeji Adeleke, in 2013 while they were both students at Babcock University through a mutual friend. They started hanging out and officially began dating in a low-key manner in 2015, before going public with their relationship in 2017. [3]

In 2021, Davido was spotted publicly kissing another woman, American model Mya Yafai, sparking cheating allegations against him. In response, Davido posted a GIF of Homer Simpson running into a bush, which was interpreted by many as an admission of guilt or shame over his actions. Rowland deleted most of the pictures she had with Davido from her Instagram page after the scandal although, she would later choose to handle the matter with grace and composure. [4] Despite the public scrutiny, she was seen attending one of Davido's concerts, publicly supporting him. [5] Additionally, Davido's friends have stated that the couple's relationship remains intact, and Davido has also revealed that Rowland is still living in his house, further indicating that they have weathered the challenges in their relationship.

On October 31, 2022, Rowland and Davido lost their 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, after he drowned in a swimming pool at his father's residence in the Banana Island neighborhood of Lagos. The incident was confirmed by reports stating that the toddler was rushed to a hospital but was unfortunately pronounced dead. [6] Rowland reacted to her son's death by breaking her silence on Twitter, where she posted "It is well," a phrase reflecting her faith. Additionally, she took to her Instagram account to share loving moments with her son, including pictures from their time together in London and Nigeria.

On May 6, 2023, Rowland and Davido were married in a private ceremony. The couple has two children together, a set of twins born after the loss of their first son, Ifeanyi.
