Chitipa East is a constituency for the National Assembly of Malawi, located in the Chitipa District of Malawi's Northern Region. [1] It elects one Member of Parliament by the first past the post system. The constituency is currently represented by Malawi Congress Party MP Kezzie Msukwa.

By the end of the war, guitar and banjo duos were the most popular type of dance bands. Both instruments were imported. Malawians working in the mines in South Africa and Mozambique also led to fusion and blending in music styles, giving rise to music styles like Kwela.

The Northern Region is a region of Malawi. It had a population of 2,289,780 in 2018, and covers an area of 26,931 km², making it the smallest region both by population and area. Its capital city is Mzuzu. Starting in the north and going clockwise, the Northern Region borders on Tanzania, Lake Malawi, Malawi's Central Region, and Zambia.

Chitipa District is the northernmost district in the Northern Region of Malawi. The capital is Chitipa. The district covers an area of 4,288 km.², and has a population of 234,927. Chitipa borders fellow districts Karonga and Rumphi, as well as neighboring countries Tanzania and Zambia. The district is divided into five main areas known as Misuku to the east, Kameme to the north, Bulambia right at the centre while Wenya and Nthalire areas are situated to the south.

The National Assembly of Malawi is the supreme legislative body of the nation. It is situated on Capital Hill, Lilongwe along Presidential Way. The National Assembly alone possesses legislative supremacy and thereby ultimate power over all other political bodies in Malawi. Chitipa is the capital of Chitipa District, Malawi and the birthplace of Malawian lawyer, politician, and philanthropist James Nyondo. It is also known as Fort Hill. It is very near Malawi's tri-point border with Zambia and Tanzania.

Chimango Chimpimpha Mughogho-Gondwe is a Malawian politician. She is the current Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development. She is the former Deputy Minister of Persons with Disability and the Elderly. She was a Member of the National Assembly for Chitipa South Constituency, but lost in the People's Party primaries for the 2014 election. She then decided to stand as an independent candidate, but lost.

The M14 is a road in the Muchinga Province of Zambia that connects Nakonde with the Malawian Border at Katumbi via Chitipa, Thendere and Muyombe.
