Chitta Ranjan Mishra (June 2, 1949) is a chemical scientist, and writer from Odisha, India. He has authored 16 Science Books in Odia & English. He is a recipient of the Kalinga Samman, a state-level prize, instituted by the Kalinga Foundation Trust for the popularization of science, given to scientists and science litterateurs from the state of Odisha. Life and Career

Mishra was born on 2nd June 1949 in Bhabanipur, Bari, Dist, Jajpur, Odisha. He completed his bachelor's degree (1969) and master's degree in Chemistry (1971) from Utkal University. He pursued his PhD in chemistry from Calcutta University (1977) and Doctorate in Science (D.Sc.) in the Aluminium Industry (2009) from the International University of Contemporary Studies, Washington D.C., USA.

He worked for more than 25 years in the Navratna Public Sector Company of Govt. of India, National Aluminium Company, NALCO, in the field of Research & Development. He also served as the Director (R&D), Dhaneswar Rath Institute of Engineering and Management Studies (DRIEMS University), Director (R&D and Corporate Affairs) Majhighariani Institute of Technology and Science (MITS), MITS Group of Institutions, Bhubaneswar and Director (R&D), Mahavir Institute of Engineering & Technology (MIET), Bhubaneswar. He served as the former president of Orissa Chemical Society, the apex society of the chemists of the state. Conceptualized in the School of Chemistry, Sambalpur University in 1985. [4]

He is an advisory board member of Orissa Environmental Society. [5] , and serves as the president of Ranvenshaw Chemistry Alumni Association (RCAA - Chemical Science Department at Ravenshaw University) that constitutes different awards to encourage students in their studies and research [6]

He is also a board member of GNM Foundation, (Gokulananda Nityananda Mahapatra Foundation - GNMF) that looks for solutions to complex problems in poor, remote, and challenging parts of the country [7] and also served as an editor in chief of Prof. Dr. Gokulananda Mahapatra Birth Centenary Smaranika [8]

He has authored 16 Science Books in Odia & English. He compiled and edited "UNESCO Kalinga Laureates for Universal Peace," which contains biographies of 66 UNESCO Kalinga Prize Winners from around the world, including 7 Nobel laureates. The Book was published by Kalinga Foundation Trust, Bhubaneswar, in the year 2012 and it was sponsored by NCSTC/DST, Govt. of India. [9] He has also written science and technology articles that appeared in daily Odia newspapers, magazines and periodicals. He also appeared in various science and technology programs, talks, scientific panel discussions, and debates aired on National TV Channel, Doordarshan, DD Odia, Kalinga TV, Prameya News7, Kanak News, All India Radio and other popular media channels in Odisha.
