Chloe May Greechan (born 22 September 2000) is a sportswoman from Jersey. She plays for the Jersey women's cricket team, for which she has been captain since 2020, and is the first woman from the island to take a five-wicket haul in WT20Is. Greechan is also a former world champion in indoor bowls.

Cricket career

Having represented Jersey since she was 13-years-old, [2] Greechan played in the island's first officially recognised WT20I against neighbours Guernsey for the 2019 T20 Inter-Insular Cup on 31 May 2019. Batting at number six, she scored 4 not out in her side's innings before taking the new ball and sending down Jersey's first-ever WT20I delivery, going on to take one wicket for 20 runs in her four overs. Later that year she won the best fielder award as Jersey finished second at the France Women's T20I Quadrangular Series. [5]

Appointed captain of the national team in 2020, [2] Greechan won the Jersey Cricket Women's Cricketer of the Year award in 2021 and again in 2022, [6] the latter coming after she led the islanders to victory at the 2022 France Women's T20I Quadrangular Series [7] [8] and a 3–0 sweep in the newly expanded Women's Inter-Insular Cup. At the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier division two tournament, Greechan finished as the competition's leading wicket-taker with 11 dismissals to her name. [11] That total included figures of 5/4 in a 108-run win against Sweden with three of her four overs being maidens. This made Greechan the first Jersey player to take a five-wicket haul in WT20Is. Greechan had a trial at English professional club Sunrisers in 2023. [11]

During the 2024 WT20I Inter-insular Cup, which had reverted to a one-off match, Greechan conceded just two runs from her three overs and scored 14 not out as Jersey defeated Guernsey by 104 runs to retain the title for the third successive year at Grainville Cricket Ground in St Saviour. [15] [16]

In August 2024, Greechan was among the British and Irish Roses squad selected to take on Team Europe in the inaugural Meltl Shield, a nine-match T10 competition, held at Roma Cricket Ground in Rome, Italy. [17]

Bowls career

In April 2015, aged just 14, Greechan won the IIBC Championships Mixed Pairs world title with her father, Thomas. [18] [19] She retained the crown a year later alongside Malcolm De Sousa. [20]

Greechan won the 2023 Channel Islands Indoor Bowls Championship women's pairs title with Megan Kivlin, defeating Guernsey duo Alison Merrien and Shirley Petit in the final. [21]

In May 2024, she was selected to represent Jersey at the 2024 European Bowls Championships, held in September in Ayr, Scotland [22] and won a bronze medal in the pairs with her mother Lindsey Greechan. [23]

Inter-Insular cricket refers to cricket contests between representative teams of Jersey and Guernsey in the Channel Islands. An inter-insular match has been played annually between the two sides since 1950 and often attracts crowds above 1,000. It is often referred as ‘reds vs greens’ contest. The format has varied over the years but has been played as a 50-over contest in recent times and a Women’s Inter-Insular match was first played in 2009. In 2018, the format switched to a series of Twenty20 matches, although the traditional 50-over match returned from 2019 in addition to the Twenty20 series. Charles Walter "Chuggy" Perchard is a Jersey international cricketer. He has captained the team since 2017.

Anuradha Doddaballapur is an Indian-born German cardiovascular scientist and cricketer who also currently serves as the captain of the Germany women's national cricket team. She is currently a postdoctoral research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim. In August 2020, she became the first female cricketer in the history of international cricket to take 4 wickets in 4 balls.

The 2022 France Women's T20I Quadrangular Series was a women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) cricket tournament that was held in Dreux, France, from 5 to 8 May 2022. The participants were the women's national sides of France, Austria, Jersey and Spain. Spain played their first official WT20I matches during the tournament. Jersey won the series, after they went unbeaten in all four of their matches. France finished in second place, edging out Austria on net run rate, with Spain finishing fourth.

The 2022 GCC Women's Gulf Cup was a women's T20I cricket (WT20I) tournament played in Oman from 20 to 26 March 2022. Organised by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the tournament featured the women's national teams of Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. Bahrain and Saudi Arabia played their first official WT20I matches during this tournament.

The 2022 Men's T20I Inter-Insular Series, consisting of three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches, was held in Guernsey from 20 to 21 May 2022. The first match was played at College Field in Saint Peter Port, and the remaining matches were played at King George V Sports Ground in Castel.

Trinity Smith is a cricketer who plays for the Jersey women's cricket team. She is the first Jersey woman to score a half-century in a WT20I. Smith is also the first player from the island - male or female - to be nominated for an ICC Player of the Month Award.

Grace Wetherall is a cricketer who plays for the Jersey women's cricket team. She is the first player to score a WT20I half-century batting at number eight. As of August 2024 she remains the only person to achieve this feat.

The men's series consisted of three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches and was held in Guernsey in June 2024. The first two matches were played at King George V Sports Ground in Castel, and the final game was played at the Guernsey Rovers Athletic Club Ground in Port Soif. The women's series consisted of a single women's T20I, which has held at the Grainville Cricket Ground in Jersey.
