Debashree Roy also known as Debasree Roy, is an Indian actress, dancer, choreographer, politician and animal rights activist. As an actress, she is known for her work in Hindi and Bengali cinema. She has been cited as the reigning queen of Bengali commercial cinema. She acted in more than a hundred films and won over forty awards, including a National Award, three BFJA Awards, five Kalakar Awards and an Anandalok Award. As a dancer, she is known for her stage adaptations of the various forms of Indian folk dances as well as her innovative dance forms imbued with elements from Indian classical, tribal and folk dance. She runs Natraj dance troupe. She is the founder of Debasree Roy Foundation, a non-profit organisation that works for the cause of stray animals. Abar Byomkesh is an Indian detective film about the Bengali fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi released on 23 March 2012. It is directed by Anjan Dutt and is the sequel of 2010's Byomkesh Bakshi. Dutt made a sequel of Abar Byomkesh, named Byomkesh Phire Elo released on 19 December 2014.
Meghe Dhaka Tara is a 2013 Indian Bengali film directed by Kamaleswar Mukherjee and made under Shree Venkatesh Films banners. The film is inspired from the life and works of Bengali film director Ritwik Ghatak. The entire film is in black and white except the last scene which has been shot in colour. In this film Saswata Chatterjee plays the character of Nilkantha Bagchi and Ananya Chatterjee plays the role of Durga, Nilkantha's wife. The film was released on 14 June 2013. Besides giving an account of Ghatak's life, the film also depicts the socio-political environment of contemporary West Bengal during the Tebhaga and Naxalite movements.

He earned numerous accolades, including Uttam Kumar Awards, BFJA Awards and Star Jalsha Entertainment Awards. Chakraborty has a significant following in West Bengal, Assam and other adjacent states in India and Bangladesh. He is a member of All India Trinamool Congress. He contested 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election from Borjora Constituency. He won the General election 2021 from Chandipur Vidhansabha Constituency by a margin of 14000 votes. He was sworn in as Member of Legislative Assembly on 2 May 2021.

How they adjust and cope with their new-found lives forms the rest of the story.

Rajkahini is an Indian Bengali-language historical drama film directed by Srijit Mukherji. The shooting of the film completed in June 2015 and the film released on 16 October 2015. Anusandhan is a 2021 Indian Bengali-language psychological thriller film directed by Kamaleshwar Mukherjee produced by Big Screen Productions. Starring Saswata Chatterjee, Churni Ganguly and Joydeep Mukherjee, the film is an adaptation of a play directed by Kamaleswar himself. The movie is an adaptation of the 1956 novel A Dangerous Game by Friedrich Dürrenmatt which has earlier been adapted in Marathi as Shantata! Court Chalu Aahe (1971), in Kannada as Male Nilluvavarege (2015) and in Hindi as Chehre (2021). The film was released theatrically on 3 December 2021.
Tirandaj Shabor is a 2022 Indian Bengali-language crime thriller film directed by Arindam Sil based on Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay’s novel Tirandaj. It is the sequel to 2018 film Aschhe Abar Shabor and the fourth installment of Goenda Shabor film series. The film was released on 27 May 2022 under the banner of Camellia Productions.
