Srabanti Chatterjee is an Indian actress, former journalist at ABP News and anchor who appears in Bangla language films. Srabanti primarily works in Bengali cinema.
Chatterjee joined Bharatiya Janata Party on 1 March 2021. [5] [6] She was given the ticket and contested the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election from Behala Paschim against state minister of School Education and TMC heavyweight Partha Chatterjee but lost the election by 50,884 votes. On 11 November 2021, Srabanti quit the Bharatiya Janata Party, eight months after joining the party.
Srabanti has always been in the centre of controversies. She got married thrice. The last marriage with a cabin-crew Roshan Singh, ended bitterly by which Roshan alleged emotional abuse by her which includes body shaming and sexual shaming from her, spreading false rumors against him and demanding alimony from him. [7] [8] Now she was rumored to date her housing resident, businessman Avirup Nag Chowdhury. [9] While shooting for a film in 2022, she posted on her social media account pictures of herself posing with a mongoose pup in chains and separated from its mother. Some some netizens lambasted her for chaining an animal and yet professing love for it. The Wildlife Crime Control cell of West Bengal issued her a notice on February 15 under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, to present herself before the range officer (RO) as offences involving the mongoose attract the longest jail terms and are non-bailable. [10] In 2023, she landed in another controversy after fitness enthusiasts lodged complaint against a gym co-owned by her by which she denied any involvement in the issue. [11]

The 6th Filmfare Awards Bangla ceremony, presented by The Times Group, honor the best Bengali language Indian films of 2021–2022. The ceremony was held on 10 March 2023 at the ITC Royal Bengal in Kolkata. Ballabhpurer Roopkotha and Dostojee shared the award for Best Film. The Award Show was aired on 2 April 2023 on Zee Bangla. The ceremony was hosted by Anirban Bhattacharya, Srabanti Chatterjee and Ankush Hazra.
