Department of School and Higher Education is the department of school education including primary and secondary schools in the state of West Bengal, India. This is the main authority to implement the educational policy of the Government of West Bengal. [2]

Activities

The department is the nodal body which look after various aspects of school level educations for the state having specific tasks like text book selection, formation of board and councils (West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education), inspection, recruitment of teachers (Government)/ education staff, execution of projects, language policy and schemes, preparation of teaching, training, research etc. There are also have the regular budgeting, audit programs, recognition, up-gradation of schools and legal matters. Rashtriya Uchchattar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) is a holistic scheme of development for higher education in India initiated in 2013 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The centrally sponsored scheme aims at providing strategic funding to higher educational institutions throughout the country. Funding is provided by the central ministry through the state governments and union territories (UT), which in coordination with the central Project Appraisal Board will monitor the academic, administrative and financial advancements taken under the scheme. A total of 316 state public universities and 13,024 colleges will be covered under it.

(BRKMAHS) is a senior secondary boys' school in Baranagar, Kolkata, India and a branch centre of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math. The school was founded in 1912, and is located at the northern outskirt of Kolkata, on the banks of the river Ganga. The school is run by the Baranagar Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Authority under the umbrella of Ramakrishna Mission headquartered at Belur Math. It is one of the parastatal organization of the Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department. Jaynagar Institution is a government-sponsored high school in the Jaynagar Majilpur of the South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.
