Chris Isiaiah Ongondo Amimo is the co-founder and chair of Kenyan soccer academy Ligi Ndogo S.C. as well as the tournament director for the age-grade and nationwide youth tournament Chapa Dimba. [1]
He also serves as the executive committee member,and as the chair of both the youth and finance committees with the Football Kenya Federation. [2]
Amimo was born in Kakamega County on 12 Oct 1972. He attended All Saints Kindergarten before proceeding to City Primary School. For his secondary education,he attended Lenana School between 1987 and 1990. He then moved to the University of Nairobi and attained a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Marketing Option).
While at Lenana,he largely played rugby alongside football which was considered a lesser sport at the establishment. In Varsity he concentrated on rugby and turned out for the resident side Mean Machine RFC,and went on to feature for Mwamba RFC at club level. [3]
After college he initiated and managed corporate sporting events,including 3-on-3 junior basketball challenge in 1996 and 1997 under the banner of Sports Promotions. It later morphed to Spriteball series that ran across East Africa from the year 1998 to 2000. In 2002 he co-founded Ligi Ndogo S.C. alongside Karani Nyamu as a baseline for developing and nurturing youth talent. [4]
Amimo has overseen the running of age grade tournaments including the East Africa Cup from 2004, [5] [6] ,Sakata Ball from 2010-2012,and Chapa Dimba from 2017 [7] as the tournament director across all.
In 2016 he was elected as FKF Nairobi National Executive Committee Member. [8] After his four-year tenure, [9] he was retained as an executive member after being co-opted on a four-year cycle,from Oct 2020.
Ligi Ndogo Soccer Club is a football club and youth academy based in Nairobi,Kenya. The senior team currently competes in the National Super League,the second tier of the Kenyan football league system. The club's name is Swahili for "little league".
The Kenyan Regional Leagues are the fourth tier in the Kenyan football league system. They have a promotion and relegation system with FKF Division One and the Kenyan County Champions League,and consists of 8 regional leagues.
The 2012 FKF President's Cup was the 41st season of Kenya's top domestic cup competition. The deadline for application was 30 July,and 32 clubs had registered for participation to the tournament after paying a mandatory KSh.15,000/= fee,with a final list of 34 teams. The quarter-finals were played on 6−7 October,while the semi-finals and the final were played on 17−18 November and 21 November respectively,after the end of the 2012 Kenyan Premier League.
The 2014 Kenyan National Super League was the inaugural season of the Kenyan National Super League since being established on 10 July 2013,and the 51st second division season since its establishment in 1963. Competition was scheduled to begin on 8 March,but was postponed and instead began a week later on 15 March.
The 2014 Kenyan Premier League was the eleventh season of the Kenyan Premier League since it began in 2003. It was also the 51st season of top division football in Kenya since 1963. Gor Mahia won the league title for the second consecutive season,earning a place in the preliminary round of the 2015 CAF Champions League while 2014 FKF President's Cup champions Sofapaka represented Kenya in the preliminary round of the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup. The two teams faced each other at the 2015 Kenyan Super Cup.
The 2014 season is Ligi Ndogo Sports Club's first year in the Kenyan National Super League and their fourth consecutive season in the second tier of the Kenyan football league system.
The Ligi Ndogo Soccer Club Academy,commonly known as simply Ligi Ndogo,is the youth team of Ligi Ndogo Sports Club,and acts as a feeder program for the senior team. The current academy director and under-17 head coach is Ibrahim Mbikalo.
