He then played for the Green Bay Packers from 1997 to 2005. He played for the Minnesota Vikings from 2006 to 2011. He also played briefly for the Seattle Seahawks during the 2012 playoffs.

He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.

After going undrafted in the 2001 NFL Draft, Crecion began his professional football career as a two-way offensive and defensive lineman with the Bakersfield Blitz of af2 in 2002. Returning to his primary position of tight end, he signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2003 and played for the Barcelona Dragons of NFL Europe that year. In 2004, Crecion made his NFL debut with the 49ers, appearing in one game.
