John Franklin Candy was a Canadian actor and comedian who is best known for his work in Hollywood films. Candy first rose to national prominence in the 1970s as a member of the Toronto branch of the Second City and its SCTV sketch comedy series. He rose to international fame in the 1980s with his roles in comedic films such as Stripes (1981),Splash (1984),Brewster's Millions (1985),Planes,Trains and Automobiles,Spaceballs,The Great Outdoors (1988),Uncle Buck (1989),and Cool Runnings (1993). He was also known for his supporting roles in The Blues Brothers (1980),National Lampoon's Vacation (1983),Little Shop of Horrors (1986),and Home Alone (1990);and had dramatic roles in Only the Lonely and JFK.
The Toronto Rock are a Canadian professional box lacrosse franchise based in Hamilton,Ontario. They are members of the Eastern Conference of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The team was the first Canadian franchise in the NLL. Oakville resident Jamie Dawick is the current owner of the Rock,purchasing the team after the 2009 season. Since 2014,Dawick has also served as their general manager. The Rock play their home games at FirstOntario Centre.

Brian P. Burke is an American-Canadian ice hockey executive,currently the Executive Director of the Professional Women’s Hockey League Player's Association (PWHLPA). He previously worked in the NHL league office,including as the director of hockey operations,and worked as general manager of the Hartford Whalers,Vancouver Canucks,Anaheim Ducks—with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 2007—and Toronto Maple Leafs,as well as president of hockey operations for the Leafs,Calgary Flames,and Pittsburgh Penguins. Burke was general manager for the silver-medalist United States national team for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He is a member of Rugby Canada's board of directors. Burke was inducted into the Rhode Island Hockey Hall of Fame in 2019.
Graeme MacKay is the Hamilton Spectator's resident editorial cartoonist. Born in 1968,grew up in Dundas,Ontario. A graduate from Parkside High School in Dundas,Graeme attended the University of Ottawa majoring in History and Political Science. There he submitted cartoons to the student newspaper,The Fulcrum,and was elected as graphics editor by newspaper staff. Between 1989 and 1991 he illustrated and,along with writer Paul Nichols,co-wrote a weekly comic strip,entitled "Alas &Alack",a satire of current day public figures framed in a medieval setting.
