John Richard Jeanneret was a Canadian television and radio personality best known as the play-by-play announcer for the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres and its broadcast network, the Sabres Hockey Network for 51 years. Having started with the team on radio during the team's second season in 1971–72, and ending his career after the 2021–22 season, he was the longest-tenured play-by-play announcer with a single team in NHL history. He moved to television during the 1995–96 season and began doubling both television and radio play-by-play duties during the 1997–98 season. He was known as "RJ" within the Sabres organization and by close associates.
John Otto (1929–1999) was a radio talk show host in Buffalo, New York. He began his broadcasting career in the 1940s at the age of 19 at WBNY which has since changed its call sign. He spent most of his radio career doing an evening listener call in show branded Extension 55 at WGR. When WKBW, switched from music to talk he moved to that station doing the same show rebranded as Night Call.

The network was available on cable providers in much of upstate New York, as well as parts of northern Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. The network ceased operations on March 7, 2005, in the midst of Adelphia's financial collapse and bankruptcy.

Warren P. "Clip" Smith was a Buffalo, New York media personality and newsman. Smith was a sports reporter at WKBW-TV from 1971 until being fired in December 1988, and later returned to radio in Buffalo at WGR and WBEN (AM) as a conservative talk show host and commentator. He was the play-by-play announcer for the University at Buffalo Bulls in the mid-1980s. He is remembered for his "Clipley's Believe It or Don't" segments and the puns and one-liners he worked into his broadcasts. He was killed at age 63 in a car accident in Niagara County, New York. At the time of his death, Smith was a member of the Lockport Board of Education and had been a three-time candidate for mayor of Lockport, New York. In May 2005, Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds of New York paid tribute to Smith, noting that the "Clipper" earned his reputation for "his strong opinions, as well as his quick wit and one-liner quips."

James Thomas Kelley Jr. was a professional sports news columnist from South Buffalo. His 30-year career focused primarily on the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League, and the greater Buffalo area. He started covering the Sabres in 1981 for The Buffalo News, and also went on to cover the Stanley Cup Finals for 23 straight years. He pursued other media besides newspaper writing. He originated the weekly "Hockey Night in Buffalo", as well as "Sharpshooters" on WNSA with partner Mike Robitaille. From time to time he continued to contribute various hockey articles to ESPN.com and FOXSports.com. His experience and knowledge of hockey led The Hockey News to proclaim him in 2002–03 as one of the "100 People of Power and Influence in Hockey."

In addition to the Bills, he also served as commentator for the Buffalo Bisons, Canisius College Golden Griffins, Buffalo Bulls and Niagara University Purple Eagles in the 1980s.
