Christopher Reisman (born December 30, 1978) is an American basketball coach who was most recently the head coach of the Tarleton State Texans men's basketball team. He is currently the assistant athletic director of Student-Athlete Development and Strategic Initiatives.

Early life and education

Reisman was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas and grew up in Stephenville, Texas, where his father Lonn Reisman was the head coach at Tarleton State. Chris attended Stephenville High School where he was three-year letterman on the basketball team. He earned first team all-district and all-region honors and led his senior team to the area finals as a senior before graduating in 1997. [1] Reisman played at Tarleton State before graduating in 2002. [2] He was a starter his last two seasons and finished his career ranked sixth on Tarleton's all-time assists chart with 281. Reisman considered going into medicine before deciding to become a coach. [3]

Coaching career

Reisman began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Tarleton State in 2002. In 2004, he was promoted to an assistant coach under his father. He became the associate head coach in 2006. As an assistant, Reisman helped Tarleton State make 14 NCAA tournament appearances, win four NCAA Division II South Central regional championships and make two trips to the NCAA Division II Final Four. [2] He was in charge of recruiting, scouting, academic counseling and individual development. [1] After his father stepped down in 2018, Reisman was promoted to head coach. In two seasons, he led the team to a 39–22 record. In March 2020, he resigned to become the assistant athletic director of Student-Athlete Development and Strategic Initiatives. [2] Billy Gillispie, former head coach at Kentucky, replaced Reisman as coach of Tarleton State. [4]

He was the head men's basketball coach at the University of Southern Mississippi, a position he held from 2014 through the 2018-19 season. Sadler served as the head men's basketball coach at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) from 2004 to 2006 and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln from 2006 to 2012.

Jason Trey Hooten is the head coach of the Sam Houston State University Men's Basketball team. Jason Hooten had previously served on the staff as an assistant coach for the previous six years, but was named as the Bearkats' new head men's basketball coach on April 2, 2010. In his ten seasons with the Bearkats, Hooten has helped direct the program to a 127-59 record and four 20-plus victory seasons. The 25-8 record for Sam Houston in 2009-10 marks the highest victory total for a Bearkat squad in SHSU's 23 seasons at the NCAA Division I level. The Tarleton State Texans, also known as the Tarleton Texans, are the athletic teams that represent Tarleton State University of Stephenville, Texas in NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports. Before Tarleton State became a four-year institution in 1961, they were known as the "Plowboys". The Texans compete as members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) for 13 of their 14 varsity sports. During the school's four-year transition to full D-I membership, set to end in July 2024, Tarleton has planned to add several sports, with women's soccer the first to be confirmed and the team's launch scheduled for 2022.
