Chris Skilton

Christopher John Skilton (born 19 March 1955) [1] is a former Archdeacon of Croydon and Archdeacon of Lambeth. [2]

He was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge and ordained in 1981. [3] After curacies at Ealing and Wimborne he became Team Vicar of St Paul's Great Baddow. [4] From 1995 to 2003 he was the Team Rector of Sanderstead.

He was collated Archdeacon of Croydon at Southwark Cathedral on 14 April 2013; [5] he retired effective 29 February 2020. [6]

The Archdeacon of Croydon is a senior ecclesiastical officer within the Diocese of Southwark. As such the deacon is responsible for the disciplinary supervision of the clergy within its five rural deaneries: Croydon Addington, Croydon Central, Croydon North, Croydon South and Sutton.

The archdeacons in the Diocese of Portsmouth are senior ecclesiastical officers in the Church of England in south-east Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. They currently include: the Archdeacon of the Meon, the Archdeacon of the Isle of Wight and the Archdeacon of Portsdown.
