Christopher Steven Wimmer (born September 25,1970) is an American professional baseball player and scout.
Wimmer attended Wichita State University,where he played college baseball for the Wichita State Shockers. He was a two-time All-American,and led the NCAA in hits during the 1991 season. Wimmer played for the United States national baseball team in the 1992 Summer Olympics. [1]
The San Francisco Giants selected Wimmer in the eighth round of the 1992 MLB draft. [1] In January 1996,the Giants traded him to the St. Louis Cardinals as the player to be named later in the December 1995 trade that sent Royce Clayton to the Cardinals for Doug Creek,Rich DeLucia,and Allen Watson. [2] After he retired,Wimmer became a scout for the Detroit Tigers. [1]

He played 103 Major League games with 235 at bats,54 hits,no home runs and 20 RBIs. His lifetime batting average was .230,with a .267 on-base percentage and a .268 slugging percentage. As a fielder,he caught 86 games with a fielding percentage of .960. On December 13,1927,he was part of a trade in which the Phillies received pitcher Jimmy Ring and catcher Johnny Schulte from the Cardinals in exchange for Jonnard,infielder Jimmy Cooney and outfielder Johnny Mokan.

He was drafted by the New York Giants in the sixth round of the 1964 NFL Draft. Schichtle attended Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville,Kansas. He was also a member of the Atlanta Falcons,San Francisco 49ers,Waterbury Orbits and BC Lions.
