Christa Laetitia Deeleman-Reinhold (born 23 November 1930) [1] is a Dutch arachnologist. She specializes in spiders from Southeast Asia and Southern Europe, particularly cave-dwelling and tropical spiders. She donated a collection of about 25,000 Southeast Asian spiders, the largest collection of Southeast Asian spiders in existence, to the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden. [2] In addition to numerous articles, she has written the book Forest Spiders of South East Asia (2001). [3]

She born in 1930 to Dutch parents on the island of Java, Dutch East Indies. Her family returned to the Netherlands in 1935, and she entered Leiden University in 1949. after three years she began working at entered the Dutch National Museum of Natural History, studying mantises under museum director Hilbrand Boschma. She began studying spiders as a postgraduate, first studying Dutch ground spiders, and later cave spiders of the genus Troglohyphantes under the supervision of J. T. "Koos" Wiebes  [ nl ], and earned a PhD. from Leiden University in 1978. She was married to businessman Paul Robert Deeleman, who accompanied her on multiple collecting expeditions to Yugoslavia and Southeast Asia. [1] Her husband died in 1989, [4] and she spent the next decade working on her mangum opus, Forest Spiders of South East Asia (2001), a nearly-600 page work in which she revised six spider families, describing 18 new genera and 115 new species. [5] [1] She continues to actively publish at the age of 90. [1] [6]

Tetrablemmidae, sometimes called armored spiders, is a family of tropical araneomorph spiders first described by Octavius Pickard-Cambridge in 1873. It contains 126 described species in 29 genera from southeast Asia, with a few that occur in Africa and Central and South America. Pacullidae was incorporated into this family in 1981, but was later restored as a separate family in a 2016 phylogenetic study.

Troglohyphantes is a genus of sheet weavers that was first described by G. Joseph in 1881. The genus name is a combination of the Ancient Greek τρώγλη, meaning "cave (dweller)", and -hyphantes, a common ending for linyphiid genera.

Olin platnicki is the only species in the monotypic spider genus Olin in the family Trachycosmidae. It is native to Christmas Island and Sulawesi.

Utivarachna is a genus of Asian araneomorph spiders in the family Trachelidae first described by Kyukichi Kishida in 1940. It was largely ignored until Christa L. Deeleman-Reinhold revised the sac and ground spiders in 2001, transferring some species from Trachelas and adding several new ones. The genus was further expanded in 2014 and 2015.

Koppe is a genus of liocranid sac spiders first described by Christa L. Deeleman-Reinhold in 2001.

Pranburia is a monotypic genus of Southeast Asian ant mimicking corinnid sac spiders containing the single species, Pranburia mahannopi. Christa L. Deeleman-Reinhold described the first male in 1993, and the first female in 2001. It has only been found in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Malaysia. The species is named after Narong Mahannop, one of the collectors of the holotype, and the genus is named after the Pranburi Province, where the male holotype was collected.

Malamatidia is a genus of Southeast Asian sac spiders first described by Christa L. Deeleman-Reinhold in 2001.

Pristidia is a genus of Asian sac spiders first described by Christa L. Deeleman-Reinhold in 2001.

Castoponera is a genus of Southeast Asian corinnid sac spiders first described by Christa L. Deeleman-Reinhold in 2001.

Echinax is a genus of Asian and African corinnid sac spiders first described by Christa L. Deeleman-Reinhold in 2001.

Bacillemma is a monotypic genus of Thai araneomorph spiders in the family Tetrablemmidae containing the single species, Bacillemma leclerci. It was first described by Christa Laetitia Deeleman-Reinhold in 1993, and is found in Thailand.

Borneomma is a genus of Indonesian araneomorph spiders in the family Tetrablemmidae that was first described by Christa Laetitia Deeleman-Reinhold in 1980. As of September 2019 it contains two species, found on Borneo: B. roberti and B. yuata.

Sabahya is a genus of Indonesian araneomorph spiders in the family Pacullidae that was first described by Christa Laetitia Deeleman-Reinhold in 1980. As of September 2019 it contains two species, found on Borneo: S. bispinosa and S. kinabaluana. Originally placed with the Tetrablemmidae, it was moved to the Pacullidae after a 2017 genetic study.

Laronius is a monotypic genus of Southeast Asian ground spiders containing the single species, Laronius erewan. It was first described by Christa L. Deeleman-Reinhold in 2001, and has only been found in Thailand and in Sumatra.

Clubiona silvestris is a species of spiders in the family Clubionidae, found in Borneo. It was first described by Christa Deeleman-Reinhold in 2001.

Plynnon is a genus of Southeast Asian araneomorph spiders in the family Phrurolithidae, first described by Christa L. Deeleman-Reinhold in 2001. As of April 2019 it contains only three species, all from Indonesia and Borneo.

Kut is a genus of Middle Eastern woodlouse hunting spiders. The type species was first described by Paolo Brignoli from a male found in Turkey, and it was placed with Harpactocrates. In a 1988 study, Christa L. Deeleman-Reinhold expressed doubt of the holotype's placement, but it wasn't transferred to its own genus until 2019. Two other species were identified, all with the same distinctive pedipalp features, including a pear-shaped tegulum with an otherwise featureless embolus. As of April 2022 it contains only three species: K. dimensis, K. izmiricus, and K. troglophilus.
